Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. Acts 16:32

Having answered the Philippi jail keeper’s question concerning what should he do to be saved, saying: Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved and your house (v. 31), the apostles preached the Word of the Lord to him and his family.  Without this there could be no salvation or any intervention by divine power. It is not possible for a person to believe and be saved and healed or otherwise blessed if someone does not teach them the Scriptures.

The greatest good to be done to the lost is to preach them the Gospel, under the direction of the Holy Spirit.  Where the word is not preached by anointment from Above, there is corruption at all levels.  When somebody knows the Word and makes use of it, the Lord intervenes and does what is necessary.  Blessed are the people who can count on a servant of God that loves Him and is prepared by Him to deliver the divine message to them.

When during a worship service the Word is unduly expressed that message did not come from Above.  In His days on Earth, Jesus taught people to be attentive to the Word and always talk about it.  For this reason when He prayed for the afflicted, they were blessed.  Everyone should teach those who need God to follow the directions of the Bible.

Jesus said that if we know the Truth we will be set free (John 8:32). When the message is clear and the power of the Lord to heal is made present, the people learn their rights in Christ.  Then it is easy to see God working wonders amongst us.  Some think the pastors are special and have a secret power, ready to heal whom they want.  This is not true.

At Lystra, where Paul announced the Good-News, there was a special healing. Seated there was a lame man from the time of his mother’s womb (Acts 14:8).  As an apostle, he knew that it was necessary to hear the Word to awaken the faith in people’s hearts, so, he ministered the Truth.  Then, as he looked to that man, he saw that he had faith to be healed and immediately shouted commanding that he rise and stand, and so it happened (Acts14:9,10).

Paul had told the jail keeper to believe in Jesus so that he and his family would be saved.  Then he entered his house and preached concerning the Truth, because the first declaration was not sufficient.  After all, to believe in Christ is to believe in what the Scriptures say concerning Him. If you need the Lord’s intervention in your life, try to understand the Word.  So doing, when you feel that God is blessing you, receive His blessing by faith.

So that Paul’s affirmation to the jail keeper would be fulfilled, the apostle preached the Word to him and to those of his home.  The instant that they believed, the Almighty’s power intervened and they decided to receive the Son of God as their Lord and Savior.

In Christ, with Love,

Father! Blessed be the day You sent somebody to speak to us concerning eternal life and having understood the message, we accepted Jesus as our Savior and Lord.  In this way we were blessed with salvation.

The jail keeper had witnessed the earthquake, seeing the doors opened and the chains released.  When he learned that it was necessary to believe in Your Son to be saved, he led Paul and Silas to where he lived.  This way everyone heard the Good News and believed in it.

While still dawn, when all believed in Your word, without waiting for daybreak, they were baptized in the waters.  Father! Give us moments like this today and the honor and glory will be all Yours!
