But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against His people, till there was no remedy. 2 Chronicles 36:16

When madness takes over a heart, or a people, it leads to ruin. The kingdom of Judah, the remnant of the house of David, was used by the devil to do all that was evil before the eyes of the Lord. Although God had sent His servants to warn such rebels of such error, which would bring them many sufferings, they did not heed the divine message. So they paid the price, which, by the way, was too high.

The heavenly announcers had a mission to promote peace between the inhabitants of Judah and the Most High, but the people would not listen. Those in error do not realize the wiles of the devil. By giving room to him, the person has their heart contaminated in such a way that the right turns out to be wrong and the wrong turns out  to be right. Some even consider the Lord a fool, who apparently does not know what pleasure and well-being is. Poor people!

Because they were impregnated with sin, these people saw only material prosperity, which would last only a short time. Now, knowing that many will not seek the Lord because they are content with “bread and circus,” the devil will act against his evil nature and will cause them to “enjoy” life. Those self-sacrificing bearers of the message of Heaven were regarded as fools and fanatics; but the salvation to those people would come through them.

God’s warning was real, but it was not taken seriously. Unknowingly, the kingdom of Judah was sealing the decree of the captivity in Babylon, which would last 70 years. Unfortunately, many people know Jesus and attend the services with their family, but they will perish in the lake that will burn with fire and brimstone for eternity. Why stop obeying the voice of the Holy Spirit, if condemnation is inevitable?

Those people despised the rebuke from the Most High, mocking the prophets who would speak to them about divine love. In the same way, we have seen men of God who, for filthy motives, abandon their wife and go into a new marriage as if they were imply changing their clothes. Then, when they see the evil striking their families, they discover that they are the ones responsible for that. 

Those who commit this transgression must repent and convert to Christ. After all, nothing will stop the devil from acting in their lives if they have rejected the Word of God. If the people rebel against the Lord, nothing can be done to deliver them from the clutches of the enemy. Watch out! When you receive a blessing, Satan will tempt you so as to deceive you, and you will not even realize that he is doing so. The devil transforms himself into an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14)!

Because they had exceeded the  limits, until the wrath of the Most High had risen against them and there was no remedy capable of delivering them from their shameful captivity, they remained captive in Babylon, the land of sin and pain, for 70 years. Is it worth it?
