And from the daughter of Zion all her splendor has departed. Her princes have become like deer that find no pasture, that flee without strength before the pursuer.

Lamentations 1.6

The war of holiness is very serious. Unfortunately, many of us have lost a few battles against Satan and are now in his hands. The war, however, has not ended, and those who are wise and love happiness must turn away from the path of error. The Lord warns us not to love the world or the things in it (1John 2.15). If that was not of utmost importance, the Most High would not have warned us. Your eternal happiness is conditioned to a separation from the world.

When God saved you, he gave you glory (John 1.16; 17.22), so that you can represent him, do his works and assume your position in Jesus. In addition, with God’s glory, you are stronger and more powerful than all forces of hell. But there is one thing: if you do not watch and pray, you will be stricken by evil—as it happened to Judah; then you might lose the splendor the Lord has given you. All that will be left in you is nostalgia, desire to win and initiatives in which you will never succeed.

The splendor of Judah had departed. Gradually, people were stripped away from their prerogatives; instead of admitting their errors and seeking God’s forgiveness and restoration of their spiritual position, they resigned themselves to evil. Then one day there was nothing left from the beautiful spiritual power with which they were once vested; so the enemy was able to take the children of Israel into captivity.

The princes of God’s people had put so much effort in doing the Lord’s works and indeed had pleased the Lord; but they stopped feeding themselves from the Bread of heaven, so they became like animals with no strength. This is the portrait of many people who once had victory in life, but then they got carried away by pride and became the perfect prey for the pursuer. If they continue to live in an irresponsible manner, without fellowship with the Lord, their existence will cease very soon.

This is bad not only for them, but also for many people who, due to the glory that used to dwell in them, would be delivered from evil forces. God is inviting us to go back to our first love. If you are at his feet, your power and splendor will be restored, for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable (Romans 11.29 – ARA). He has chosen you to be a channel of blessings, not a channel of curses. Even if you think you have gone too far, turn around as fast as you can. This is the moment for the Lord to deliver you from all oppression.

Judah strayed from God’s path. And, despite his warnings, they chose to believe in the devil, who is a liar (John 8.44). Then, in captivity, they opened their eyes and saw how foolish they acted, but it was too late.
Brethren, before the door closes, before darkness come, and you find yourself at a bottomless pit, turn back to God and run to the arms of he who will give you eternal happiness.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
