He trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel, so that there was none like him among all the kings of Judah after him, nor among those who were before him. 2 Reis 18.5

There is a custom of writing on the headstone of the grave of some people, something that can explain the kind of life they lived. For Hezekiah, king of Judah was written that, not before him or after him, was there ever a king like him among all the kings of Judah. If all of God’s servants worked hard to have written just like Hezekiah had on his grave stone, the world would live better, and God’s work would also prosper.

It’s difficult to understand how someone who has known the love of God does not trust Him with all their heart. Whoever proves the Lord knows that it’s very rewarding and fulfilling to believe in the Lord that heals, frees, and protects. Why not put our trust in the Almighty, and by not doing so, being exposed to the enemy’s attacks (Psalm 97:10)? The kings who were before Hezekiah didn’t experience God’s love for them.

Likewise, the carnal Christian, he who doesn’t believe and the careless are not able to have more of God. Some, by seeing the faithful and righteous prosper, wonder why the heavenly Father does not help them as He does with the true servants. The truth is that we are loved in the same proportion we love the Lord. Whoever wants to have better days, be protected from evil and live in the Lord’s miraculous atmosphere must love Him with all his heart.

The wicked Sennacherib, king of Assyria, invested against the kingdom of Judah. He judged that the cult to the Lord that was practiced was like the others that were offered in various nations to their false gods, mankind’s invention. But, in Judah, he found a king who served the true God and a prophet who knew the Lord. In a single night, Sennacherib lost 185,000 soldiers killed by an angel of God.

In the garden of Gethsemane, the Lord Jesus said that if He wanted, He would pray to the Father and 12 legions of angels would be sent to Him (Matthew 26.53). The servants of God in times of need can pray, and the Almighty will send as many angels needed to help them. Only one angel terminated with the king of Assyria’s entire army. This episode teaches us that all we need in order to have the work fully completed, is that the Lord sends us one of His angels.

They could have told us about this or other of Hezekiah’s deeds, but the most important lesson was that the monarch trusted the Almighty so much that there was no parallel during the whole time that Judah was a nation. That people may speak similar things about you, for it will be like a diploma of a servant who heard and understood the Father and served Him. Even the dear reader not having a son who gave joy to the Almighty, how about starting today?

In the love of Christ,
