And I will take the remnant of Judah who have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to dwell there, and they shall all be consumed and fall in the land of Egypt. They shall be consumed by the sword and by famine. They shall die, from the least to the greatest, by the sword and by famine; and they shall be an oath, an astonishment, a curse and a reproach! Jeremiah 44.12

The greatest madness that someone can do is to despise God’s voice and find ways that seem to be good at first, but that are the worst ways that the servants of the Most High can ever choose. What we see in this message is the shame that a wrong decision causes to people. That is because, unfortunately, people despise the light, and fall in the worst darkness – the lack of the revelation of the Word.

As He took His people out from Egypt, the Creator announced that the land where they were going would be one of complete prosperity. Therefore, despite having the 12 tribes divided into two nations, both prospered. However, since the kingdom of the North, which had ten tribes, had so many goods, they turned over to the devil. In that part of the land, the Lord was not worshipped any longer. Instead of Him, demons were worshipped. Idolatry was almost complete, permeating in the government of practically all the kings.

In the kingdom of Judah, there were rulers that abolished idolatry. However, after they died, their successors turned to do evil. Where there is abundance of money and material goods, people let themselves be taken by the charms of Mammon, who calls other demons to make their lives like hell. Unfortunately, this is happening in many families that do not know how to return to the Lord.

The kingdom of the North finished when, under the kingship of Hosea, the Assyrians entered and destroyed the nation. The kingdom of Judah lasted much longer, but there came the time when Jerusalem was overrun by the Babylonian empire, and its king and nobles were taken captive. Some, however, managed to escape and went to Egypt, where they managed to “live well”. Therefore, others decided to follow their example.

These people did not want to seek God anymore, for He did not matter for them any longer. Those who went to Egypt started to worship other gods. After all, with “bread and circus”, they did not think twice in abandoning the Lord. However, those who live feasting today forget that not long ago they were in the hands of demons, and now that they feel free, they do not remember the Father anymore.

However, God gave a tough word for the “smart ones” that were determined to go to Egypt, where others had been “successful”. He says the same thing for people who are seeking a “better lifestyle” today. These people leave the hands of the Almighty and fall once again into the slavery that dominated them. Yet, they do not know what awaits them. Therefore, whoever you may be, return to the Lord right away.

In Christ, with love,
