And in the wilderness where you saw how the LORD your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went until you came to this place.  Deuteronomy 1.31

The Israelites had no reason to doubt the Lord. From the moment Pharaoh began persecuting them, God was fluffing their bed: The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness; you will sustain him on his sickbed (Psalm 41.3), always acting to lessen the suffering of His people. The Most High does the same with everyone, saved or not, delivering them from the enemy´s destruction. But this has a deadline. You have to react and use your faith! Pray!

As soon as they left Egypt, God took the Israelites to the desert, to the harsh life where nothing was harvested and where they lived among noxious and wild animals. The heavenly care was so great that a plague was only registered when the people sinned. This is a lesson for the saved and for those who draw near to the Lord. As long as we are under His wings, we will be protected. It is impossible for the devil to cross the great Wall of Fire, our God!

Don’t be afraid of the bad news brought by some “brothers”. They are messengers of the evil kingdom. The evil one’s greatest purpose is to destroy Christians, but since he needs a reason to accomplish this, he uses all means, one of them are lies, the others are temptations. Jesus told us how to act when we are tempted: Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak (Matthew 26.41). Pray and believe!

The Hebrews knew that the Lord had guided them through the desert, keeping them from all evil, but instead of believing in God’s help to solve any problem, they decided to send spies. This decision was useless, because human vision is limited, different from God’s. We must remember this episode, watching and praying so that we don’t fall into temptation. The devil only comes to kill!

The Lord wants to carry us like children, as one carries a baby, through the deserts of life. So don’t ever rebel against Him. If you are going through a crisis or an attack, it will be good for you in some way. In the Lord´s lap, the Christian is unreachable by the power of darkness. Be wise enough to reject complaining, since grumbling grieves the heart of God. Make Him happy!

The Word tells us of the Lord’s happiness: I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth (3 John 1.4). Whoever makes Him happy always wins! There is nothing better than to be guided by the Holy Spirit, whose mission is to glorify Jesus in our lives. Without a doubt, we lose many good things because we don´t pay attention to the Word. We must walk in the light (John 12:35,36).

You see, God guided them until they reached the mountains of the Amorites, and would continue to guide them, as long as they remained as children in His lap. However, as they were filled with fear and talked about returning to Egypt, the treatment was different. Don’t let Him change the way He treats you.

In Christ, with love,

O God! What delight the sons of Jacob had when they were placed in Your lap. It is similar with us, for the other Comforter, Your Holy Spirit, guides us as You did with Your people. We are Your children!

The Israelites did not understand that the fall of the Amorites would be equal to Pharaoh´s shame, who was prevented from touching a single one of Your people. Not a strand of hair would fall from Jacob. Will any strands of the Lord Jesus' hair fall out? Never! It will never happen because of Your Word!

May we be confident, as the Hebrews should have been. They did not understand the day of visitation, and so they were influenced by the bad news plotted by Hell. We want to obey You, to believe and to love. Help us to be faithful!
