Sowing with Success!
Imagine one day you were walking in a freshly plowed field, and you saw the farmer sitting down on a rock, crying bitterly. You stopped and asked him:
“What’s the matter? Why are you crying?” He answered immediately: “I feel sorry for this seed, because I know that after I plant it, it will die!!!”
You would think that man had a serious mental problem, because any farmer knows that for a plant to grow, the seed must first die.
The Apostle Paul said, “… that which you sow is not quickened, except it die”
1 Cor 15:36.
The Lord Jesus Himself was our biggest example. Do you remember what He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane? (Matt 26:38) He told God that the situation was very hard, and if it were at all possible, for the Father to save him; but at the end of the prayer He said, “Nevertheless not as I will, but as thou will.” Well, if Jesus (the seed) hadn’t died, the church (the plant) would never have grown. Thank God that the seed died, giving life to us, the Church, which is growing every day.
Now think about this, why do we have so many small harvests in our life and in some cases, none at all?
Are we going to ignore this example given to us by Jesus? Something precious had to die for the Church to have life.
Sometimes we have a seed hidden away within us, and although it may be of good quality, it won’t produce anything until you plant it in the ground. Then it will give birth to something great. There are a lot of people that have already received a call from God to help His Kingdom by supporting the divine mission of Evangelism, but for some reason, they still don’t have the courage to plant the seed. Instead, they hide it because they haven’t understood that the seed needs to be planted in the ground. The sower can’t get attached to the seed; he needs to let go of it. Dear reader, spread your seeds, free yourself from everything in this world, and you will see the results in your life.
See the great things that happened in Isaac’s life: “Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year a hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.” Gen 26:12
Isn’t this what you want for your life? Now read verses 1 and 2 and you’ll see that Isaac obeyed the Lord. He didn’t go down into Egypt, but stayed in the land that God had showed him.
Certainly opposing circumstances will arise that will make you feel like giving up; your desire may be to go down to Egypt; and your self-esteem may be lying in the dust, but remember this, the seed needs to die for the will of God to grow in your life. Even if your flesh says, “There’s no hope,” keep believing, because the Bible tells us, “… for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap” Gal 6:7.
May the Lord bless you abundantly! Starting now, we should plant our seeds and soon there’ll be a great harvest in our lives. I finish this article with a special message from the Prophet Haggai:
“Is the seed yet in the barn? Yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.” Hag 2:19
