“Now on the second day the heads of the fathers’ houses of all the people, with the priests and Levites, were gathered to Ezra the scribe, in order to understand the words of the Law.” (Nehemiah 8:13)
Nehemiah proposed a quite different meeting where the heads of the people, the priests, the Levites and Ezra were gathered. In that meeting nobody was interested in being elected as the best one; nobody was interested in showing off or doing business. They were all interested in learning the Law of the Lord. People came from afar to learn the Word of God; they had left their duties behind, their families and their businesses to become pupils at the Spirit of God School. This is the kind of meeting we need to attend today.
It goes without saying that those people were profusely blessed for being there. Today, those who have the same purpose are also blessed. We need to teach people to prepare for the services held at church and also for special meetings in order for them not to miss what God does in moments like these. Nobody should go to the Lord’s house to flaunt their nice clothes or to boast about their achievements but rather to listen to the Most High’s voice, to examine themselves, to leave behind the wrong ways that might be opening up for them and to learn from the Master what has to be done for them to improve their ministries.
According to the verse above those people were assembled in order to pay heed to the Word of the Lord. That is what we must do as well. The act of heeding brings light to our hearts and opens up our minds. When we observe the Words of our Father we are being taught by Him. At this very moment an important life-changing revelation can be granted to us. But attention to this: May your purpose be no other than that because however lowly you are you can be used by God to bless other people.
A person without a purpose attains nothing at all and God does not bless the life of someone that does not want to become a blessing.
It is important to remind you that those who do the work of the Lord recklessly will be harshly punished because it is written that cursed is he who does the work of the LORD uncritically, without a purpose, without the anointing and deceitfully (Jeremiah 48:10). On the other hand “Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.” (Daniel 12:3)
There is nothing better than learning the Gospel; we are blessed, delivered and sanctified in IT. The more revelation we get from what is written in the Holy Book the better we will live. In fact, those who learn the Word from God become winners in everything. The wise men, the heads of the people of those days, the priests and the leaders got together to understand the Law. Do the same, my brethren!
The Lord Jesus gave the following warning: “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” (John 3:6) So we need to be filled with Spirit so that those we generate in Christ are born as true blessings.
In Christ, with love,
