15/12/2021 - A CONSUMING FIRE

For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. Deuteronomy 4.24

Never play with the Lord! We are not consumed by sin because God’s mercies last forever: Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not (Lamentations 3.22). Some are going too far, despising the divine goodness. Now, those who ignore Jesus’ guidance to watch and pray will fall into the snares of Hell.

The Bible says that sin lies at the door (Genesis 4.7), so never give in to temptation. If you do, the devil will rule your heart. The Word declares:  Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6.10).

The king of wickedness tempts even those who seem to be firm in the faith, as happened with Demas, who helped Paul, learned from him and saw the apostle’s way. Such a man loved this world and turned away from God’s ways (2 Timothy 4.10). Could it be that the fact that he left eternal happiness to enjoy the pleasures of the flesh weigh on him? For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?  (Mark 8.36).

In our days, many others act like this. Some have loved sin more than God. Where do they expect to be sent on the last Day? Certainly, it won´t be to Heaven. Just the fact that they are leaving to live with the devil for ever and ever, when he and his demons will be tormented day and night, shows that they were not sane when they made the wrong decision.

There is no second chance after death. The person will forever remain in the spiritual condition in which they die. However, it seems that the reprobate was never saved. It´s difficult to understand how a person who knows the love of God can be deceived by evil. Never submit to Satan’s lies. If you do, and do not repent, you will lose eternal life (1 Corinthians 10.12).

The accuser has found some fools who believe him and propagate that “once saved, saved forever,” no matter how they live. However, this statement did not come from the Lord, for He spoke of perseverance: And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.  (Matthew 24.12,13). There is a reward for those who are faithful until the end!

Whoever fails to remain steadfast in faith in Christ will not be in the group of those who will hear the Master say: Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: (Mt 25.34). Those who don´t hear this invitation will be sent to perdition. Mercy!
