“For in You, O LORD, I hope; You will hear, O Lord my God.” (Psalm 38: 15)

Pay heed to the statements you make. Watch out the words that come out of your mouth wherever you go because they’re the mirror of what’s in your heart (Matthew 12:34). Suppose you realize you’ve been saying negative words, then pray over that and begin taking in the Word of God so your words will be positive from now on. The same must be done as you pray because we very often confess so many negative words after a beautiful and powerful prayer, to the point of invalidating the divine answer.

The statement in the verse above reveals the psalmist was absolutely certain that the Lord would listen to his prayers and that all of them would be answered. He placed his hope in the One that never fails; the One who honours His promises; the One who does much more than expected for His children (Ephesians 3: 20). Those who manage to get to that stage are certainly doing great things for their own lives. You’re waiting for the right Person when you’re waiting for the Most High; when you do that you rest on the divine promises without paying any notice to the enemy’s threats. Have no hope in men or in the church or any other source because everything and everybody might disappoint you. Yet, those who’ve got hope in the Lord will always reach victory; after all, our God doesn’t disappoint anyone that trusts in Him.

After having hope in the Most High the psalmist made a double confession: You, Lord, my God, You’ll hear me. When he called Him Lord, the psalmist was demoralizing any other entity that pretends to be God. He’s the only Lord, owner of everything, and there are no barriers for Him to operate; He’s everywhere and He does everything according to the counsel of His will. This is what the Almighty God is about: unmatched and unbeatable.

How wonderful to know the psalmist pointed out that the Most High was his God! Think about this: He’s our God; the One who’s got all power in the Heavens and on Earth; He’s the One whose thoughts can’t be hampered; therefore we need nothing else. Without this understanding, we go into battles without knowing if we will win or lose. But the truth is that once we’ve got our Father as our Lord, there’ll be no battles we can’t win and no unsolved problems. After all, is He our God or not?

We’ve got to assume our position in Christ. He’s our God, the Captain of our victory, the One who always leads us towards triumph. Do whatever He tells you to do! Don’t be frightened and don’t be afraid to accomplish the mission you’ve been assigned; He’ll help you out and you’ll be strengthened by His incredible power. He’s chosen you to be His ambassador in this life. So, don’t disappoint Him and make Him your Lord!

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
