“The fear of the LORD prolongs days, but the years of the wicked will be shortened.” (Proverbs 10:27)

Why not enjoy the days we’re given by God on Earth? They’re short – up to 70 or 80 years – but they might be a bit more for some; the Word of God states that they can be prolonged or shortened. The fear of the Lord makes one’s years be prolonged and the lack of that feeling reduces them. That prerogative is in men’s hands! So, those who are wise will live more and better; now those who sin will live less and worse.

The least we can do regarding God is to respect Him since He’s our Creator and His Word must be taken as it is – the Word of God – and not like any word from any of us. When He speaks those who are sensible don’t hesitate to obey. Failure to fulfil what He tells us means rebellion against Him and submission to the enemy. All those who didn’t pay due attention to what the Lord told them in the past, ended up going through a lot of suffering because, in doing so, the enemy grew stronger against them.

Many people aren’t brave enough to confess that the demon of unruliness has overcome them, but that’s precisely what happens when they do not submit to God. The day they decide to sin is their saddest day. Then, God’s voice, which warned them of the dangerous onslaughts of the devil, can’t be heard any longer, and they start to stride towards destruction. Why are the children of God carried away by the spirit of error? Why do the saints come back to prostitution? Why does a Christian behave dishonestly? Lies or any other error mustn’t be practised because eternal suffering is too high a price to pay.

God wants His children to live well and to be happy in order to enjoy His best. Now, those who don’t fear Him will never achieve that. The worst of the iniquities has to do with failing to fear the Almighty since He isn’t wicked and He’d never ask us anything that would cause us pain or that would demand a sacrifice. Whatever our Father tells us to do is, above all things, the best we could ever be asked and will result in great benefits for us.

The wicked will realize how it hurts to betray the trust of Him who is our Father as well as our friend. They have given the enemy a foothold and he will not miss the opportunity to take advantage of it in order to carry out his evil intents, after all the devil is mean, his heart is evil and he excels in despicable deeds which will cause great suffering to those who depart from under the divine protection.

My brethren, walk in the right road and let nothing hamper your communion with the Father of Light. There’s no evil in Him at all. May you be a living proof of how good the Lord our God is!

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
