I will betroth you to Me forever; yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and justice, in loving kindness and mercy; I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, and you shall know the Lord.
Hosea 2.19-20
For God, becoming part of his family is compared to getting married. In his Word, the Creator declares that he hates divorce (Malachi 2.16). So, regardless of what has happened, go to him and admit your sin. Like Zacchaeus, make things right with the person you cheated and the Lord promises that he will not divorce you. No one can be separated from God against his will, since God has already made his decision: his marriage to us is forever.
Hosea was used by God to teach us valuable lessons. Those who feel rejected by the Lord must understand that he did all this to help those whom the devil would lead to error and later convince them that they will never be forgiven. If this is your case, pray right now, thanking the Father for his endless mercy. The Almighty God loves you, so he will sweep away your offenses (Isaiah 44.22 NIV).
Our marriage with the Savior has taken place in righteousness and justice through the work of Jesus on the Calvary. Jesus paid a very high price—he gave his own life for us (Isaiah 53.4-5). Therefore, he who believes, despite having sinned, must not allow Satan to convince him that there is no other path to be walked than the one that leads to perdition. You are already married to the Lord, so if you confess your error and repent, God will not turn you away.
The act that freed you from the enemy was accomplished; therefore, your past sins have been paid up for. However, if you have fallen into sin again, repent, accept his forgiveness and turn back to him. The power of our Father is with you to help you be delivered from the snare of the fowler (Psalm 91.3). From now on, what you will do with this revelation will determine your future. So, repent from your sins!
The Lord also declares that his marriage with us has taken place in kindness—loving kindness and mercy. He did not search for something good in us in order to betroth us to him; rather, even knowing who we were, he married us. For that, he used all his mercy. And now we belong to him. The devil can say whatever he wants, but our union with the Creator will last for all eternity.
Lastly, the Lord declares that he has received us as part of his being in faithfulness; therefore he will never abandon us. Now, what we have to do is get to know him as our Half that values and loves us. God is really awesome, isn’t he?
