Now it came to pass in the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, that Evil-Merodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, released Jehoiachin king of Judah from prison.

2Kings 25.27

Despite other kings who came before Jehoiachin in the throne of Judah having not served the Lord, he should have never used that as an excuse not to serve God either. If Jehoiachin had shown devotion to the Word of God, his future would have been brilliant, but, because he had no fear of the Lord, he did what was evil in the eyes of God and was taken captive to Babylon. There he remained for 37 years. What a sad fate Jehoiachin had: from king of God’s people to slave of the kings of the world!

Those who do not serve the Lord are not in a neutral position, because they will serve the enemy (Luke 16.13). One day they will see that they made the wrong choice, because those who go against the will of the Creator later find out (usually too late) that they have been deceived by the serpent. But the servants of the Lord live in peace and enjoy the best things in the world.

Those who cling to God’s commands and keep them prove that they love the Lord and discover that God loves them back (John 14.21). There is nothing better than having the love of God enveloping you 24/7 and being under the protection of his hands. Those who despise God’s protection, nevertheless, are exposed to the action of evil spirits.

Surely, the place for he who was made king to God is on the throne, not in prison. The Bible says that Christ makes those who are born again kings and priests to the Father (Revelations 1.6). He who lives in rebellion and despises his position in Christ ends up being his own lord. Later he realizes he became a prisoner of the devil. Instead of royal garments, he wears a prison uniform.

Why should you not live in the honorable position, given to you by Christ, of being a king to God? Why should you live as a prisoner of Satan, if you have been made authority over your own life? The Almighty wants you to reign, demand your rights in him and, as a result, enjoy the abundant life that Jesus came to bring (John 10.10b). He who was made king to God should never suffer in the hands of the devil.

What a pitiful end Jehoiachin had, who worn a prison uniform for almost four decades. How long have you worn garments that are inappropriate for a child of God? Don’t you think it is time to change? God’s anointing is upon you, so you must get out of prison right now and walk towards a life of success.

How sad, a king risen by the Lord living as a slave of a king of the world! Those who do not serve the Lord will be a servant of another being who should never be above them!

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
