“So they all ate and were filled, and they took up seven large baskets full of the fragments that were left.” (Matthew 15:37)
It is impossible to define the Lord because He surpasses everything that our finite mind can create. Nobody will ever be able to fathom the greatness of God’s capacity. While we live this earthly life, we will not be able to fully understand this wonderful Being that created us. Yet, He states in His Word that in eternity we will get to know Him as we are known by Him. But only those who trust in Him will experience such blessing which will be so great that our mind will never be able to understand it even if we spend our whole lives thinking about it.
One of the lessons of this Biblical verse is that God does meet the needs of those who dedicate their time to learn about Him. Another lesson is that He did not create bread out of nothing, but multiplied what had been offered to Him. Those people handed Him seven loaves and some fish and they got seven baskets full of bread. My brother, it is not enough to be a church-goer. Rather, you must be a disciple of Christ.
That crowd had spent three days listening to and learning from the Lord and when He was done with that lesson nobody felt the need to remind Him that those people hungered for material bread. As Jesus Himself saw that they could faint along the way, He decided to supply their needs. He is still concerned about that today.
Isn’t God perfect? Didn’t He know how much those people would eat? Why didn’t He multiply only what was necessary? The Lord knows all things because He is perfect. There are many lessons that
only those who are at His feet will learn; and we can also infer that feeding those who the Lord wishes to nourish will give us abundant returns.
It is good to know that the Father looks after those who are by His side. That is why we must never fall for the temptation of moaning against Him due to something bad that might have happened to us. Do not let yourself be carried away by the works of the enemy but, in all situations, wait for God to take the lead. Once you have learned the lesson, He will do what is necessary. Jesus only multiplied the material bread when He had finished feeding those people’s souls.
Do not get desperate about your needs. Keep on learning with the Lord and take part in His work of healing and deliverance of mankind. There will come a time when He will provide for your every need. At the right time He will perform the miracle. The Lord has never failed to answer those who need Him and trust in Him.
We are God’s servants and as such we are instructed to do the same works that the Lord Jesus did (John 14:12). So, we had better read, study and meditate on His Word. Those who are dedicated to fulfilling the divine plan find out that the Most High is concerned with their well-being.
In Christ, with love,
R. R. Soares
