And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”    2 Kings 2.9

How many important lessons we have been given so far in the study about Elisha’s final test! I hope you have been blessed by them! In the previous eight lessons, God taught us how to prepare ourselves to do His work. We will learn even more, and with His help, we will take advantage of His instructions. Before the eyes of the 50 sons of the prophets, the glory of the Lord appeared, because Elijah did right.

Seeing his disciple fulfilling the stages of training with praise, as he took on the revelations ministered to him, Elijah told him to ask for whatever he wanted, before it was taken from him. The chariot of fire was already arriving for the prophet to go to Heaven, and he knew it. So, pleased that he had made a worthy successor, he gave Elisha the opportunity to get what he wanted. The disciple did not limit his request, asking for a double portion.

Elisha, watching Elijah fold his cloak, symbol of the anointing on his life, felt that he could have the same anointing as his master, but double. Never be ashamed to be bold, claiming all that your heart perceives is offered to you by the Word. Thus speaks the Lord: I am the Lord your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt; open your mouth wide, and I will fill it (Psalm 81.10).

The request was great, but the desire was placed in the heart of the young successor, and it came from the Most High. I believe that Elijah felt fulfilled. This is because there is no greater pleasure for those who serve God than to see their workers being used more than they are. Elisha went to the extreme in his request, yet the prophet did not get angry, because there is no selfishness in the one who loves the Lord. Hallelujah!

Never be a careless apprentice, letting yourself be taken over by sin and having a faith limited by fear. Regardless of where you are sent to do God’s work, go in the Name of Jesus. God will use you as He has spoken to you. Nothing pleases the Lord more than this:  I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth (3 John 1.4). Rejoice in Him always!

One of Jesus’ clearest promises is in John 14.13: And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. The word translated ask is the Greek verb “aiteó”, which also means to demand, to take hold of, to ordain fulfillment. When you discover a promise in the Holy Book, take hold of it right away. The Father will be fulfilled when he sees you walking in the Truth.

From now on, reject any limitation, pain, or temptation. By doing so, you will live well, and God will rejoice in you. To walk by faith is to live at the highest level. So, stop being a tail, and become the head (Deuteronomy 28.13).

In Christ, with love,

Lord of our glory! We need not be sad, for You are delighted to see us following the Truth. Those who abide in it are joyful, fulfilled before You and the world. We are anointed that You may be glorified in Your beloved Son!

In the Name of Jesus, we receive unlimited anointing, which will be revealed as we discover in the Scriptures what You have prepared for us. How many brothers are filled with all kinds of evils, while they pray weeping? They must take hold of what is theirs!

We thank You for speaking to us by the Word, guiding us by Your Holy Spirit, and giving us the victories prepared by Jesus. We accept only Your works, already prepared for us to walk in them. You are the true Savior!
