And all who went out of the gate of his city heeded Hamor and Shechem his son; every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city. Genesis 34.24

After Hamor’s explanation, when he opened his heart and revealed the truth about how he felt about having the Israelites in his land, joining him in the mingling of the peoples he had planned, all the men of his people agreed to be circumcised. No doubt, having their agreement, Shechem the prince was going to become a hero. What he never thought about was what would happen in a short time. After all, no one mocks God (Galatians 6.7).

Financial or other interests move people to do what will cause them a lot of pain, but seeking the Lord seems to be something that most people dismiss right away. Why are such individuals this way? To answer such a question successfully and joyfully, we must learn how John spoke about the ministry of Jesus: Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased (John 6.2). Shall we do the same?

The Master said that we err for two reasons, and the worst: we don’t even pay attention to His words, because we don’t even seek to change the way we minister. He showed us the cause of the lack of success in our ministry, saying: Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. (Matthew 22.29). But we have not taken the time to fill this gap in our service to the Lord. Why is this so?

The Hivites allowed a part of the body that man deems sensible to be cut off, suffering pain and in a way, humiliation – in order to fulfill Hamor’s request. He led them to believe that it would be good for the nation. We know the promise of the Lord, who spoke the truth clearly:  If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you  (John 15.7). Why are we so evil?

It’s time for us to seek the presence of the Lord by spending the necessary hours reading the Bible, meditating on it, and spending hours in prayer and worship. The apostles did this, and the world was shaken by them: but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word (Acts 6.4). The world awaits the attitude of God’s true children (Romans 8.19).

When we manifest ourselves filled with the Holy Spirit, people will seek us to change their lives and receive the same as the people of Jesus’ days received. Then we will see the flesh and the unbridled desires put in their proper place, where God will put Satan and his works: And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. (Romans 16.20). What do you say about all this?

Do not believe the lie, but the Word of God. The devil has trapped many of the Lord’s children in his tricks. Hamor thought he was binding Jacob’s sons, but they had another objective with the idea accepted by the Hivites: to prove that they would never deny the Lord’s Covenant made with Abraham and his descendants. Believe!
