Then the LORD said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.” Numbers 21:8

God gave Moses a remedy so that people could get rid of the poison of serpents: look with faith upon the metal serpent to have their bodies healthy again. This illustrates the fact that today we must turn our attention to Jesus on the cross of Calvary, where He replaced us, justifying us from sin. This way, we see the evil that separates us from God.

Looking at Christ on the cross, where He has fulfilled the requirements of the Law and purchased for us the precious promises of salvation, deliverance, healing, and other blessings, is like opening the Bible and examining it. When a part of the Word leaps into your eyes, the Lord’s answer will come. So keep the revelation given to you as you meditate on the Scriptures, believing that the devil’s poison will come out of your heart.

The moment was serious. Suddenly along the way Israel’s camp was filled with snakes. However, they did not come by charm. The sin committed by the Hebrews in condemning Moses and accusing the Lord of taking them out of Egypt, as well as the claim that there was no water or bread in the wilderness except manna. Now this was the Bread of Heaven that protected them from disease and other evils.

The Israelites lived in the wilderness for 40 years without being destroyed by anything; on the contrary, they grew in number and morally as well. So their complaint was unfounded and it was too much. With that they opened their shields, and the Lord could do nothing but allow scorching serpents to attack them. The harm was that they murmured. May this be a warning to us all!

Today many people regret not being able to do the same works Jesus did for the lost. They have been bitten by the serpents of sin and therefore desire the offerings of the wide door. We are a special people to the Lord, and He cares for us and cares for us. Never let the operation of the kingdom of darkness envelop your life. Getting out of holiness is the worst thing you should want.

If not for the snakes, the Hebrews would have sinned more and been lost forever. We need to live as examples, following blamelessly until the Day Jesus comes to seek His Church. We must be ready to overcome the tricks of the enemy, who tries to get us out of the way of heaven. God’s people realized the wrong done and repented. Thus he was able to proceed toward Canaan, the symbol of salvation.

Whoever has forsaken the Gospel made the worst choice. Although he thought he was entitled to sin, he made a mistake that will lead him to eternal loss. Now if we have to endure hard days to live in Heaven, we should endure them, but that is not true, because whoever accepts Jesus becomes a citizen of the Kingdom of joy!
