…how he met you on the way and attacked your rear ranks, all the stragglers at your rear, when you were tired and weary; and he did not fear God.   Deuteronomy 25:18

Israel was at the beginning of the journey to Canaan and was surprised by a relative of theirs. The latter could not bear to see the blessing that God would give to the sons of Jacob and decided to terminate them. Be aware, this kind of evil spirit cannot stand to see that your decision to walk with Jesus will do benefit you. The devil opposes you because he knows that if you persevere on this Path, you will enjoy abundant life.

A group of nomads called the Amalekites came from behind, acting cowardly. But our God did not leave it for later and directed Moses in a way to defeat the adversaries. The worst would come because the Lord had it written that one day He would strike their names off the face of the earth (Exodus 17:14). Today, it is unknown where there are any of them, for besides touching the Most High´s people, they did not fear Him.

The Amalekites only managed to touch the Israelites because they struggled with Moses. This means that God’s people sinned. Do not join those who speak evil of the Lord’s work and of whom He places to lead the church. He who initiates insurrection desires his own welfare (Proverbs 18:1). This person and those who join him will pay a very high price. If they do not repent, they will be lost forever.

Notice that the Israelites were tired but walking. Behind them were the weak, and these the Amalekites managed able to touch. See if you have been weak in faith, if you have been under temptation. When the devil goes to fight a servant of God, he will destroy the one who does not mind seeking the necessary strength and protection. The biblical recommendation is to be strengthened in the heavenly Father and in the power of his might (Ephesians 6:10).

For Israel to overcome, Moses took Aaron and Hur with him and went up the mountain to pray. If the leader does not pray, the work under his leadership will fail. The struggle against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and spiritual hosts of wickedness never ceases because the evil always find a weak person to use. No matter the adversity, try to stand and hold your hands up (Exodus 17: 8-13).

The Amalekite´s mistake was not only to touch the Israelites, but to not fear the Lord. They were told that what happened to the sons of Jacob was the work of the Lord, but they paid no attention to it. When God tells you something, keep that in your heart.. If you pretend not to hear, a serious sentence will be issued against you. Mercy!

When Saul was king of Israel, the Omnipotent ordered him to execute the sentence written about half a century ago against the Amalekites, but he disobeyed. The price of his negligence was too high: he lost his kingdom (1 Samuel 15: 1-29).

In Christ, with love,

Eternal God! We cannot but speak and do what we were to do in Your Kingdom: do the work as Jesus did. Let none of us be carried away by the fascination of riches, the cares of life and the ambitions.

We have one goal: to fulfill Your bidding. Today we do not have to fight against flesh or blood, but against the dark forces that keep the whole world in the most cruel and terrible sinful practices, leading millions to perdition.

Give us love for lost souls. They are billions who do not know You. Only the true Gospel can save them, just as Christ showed. So we have nothing else to do but dedicate ourselves to proclaiming it to the multitudes.
