Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God.

Hebrews 3: 12

There are some occurrences which we don’t wish to experience in our midst; yet, they take place. The stain an evil and unfaithful heart is used to causing to the work of God, in many cases, will never be removed considering that that’s one which will linger on from generation to generation. When that happens many tend to turn their backs to The Gospel by forsaking eternally the righteous ways of The Lord. Undoubtedly, if those people had a second thought on the eternal harm they’re risking to suffer they wouldn’t behave that way.

An evil heart won’t mind his neighbour’s suffering nor will he ponder on what might happen to them on The Final Judgment. He can only see what can bring them profit and pleasure. Yet, we mustn’t forget that sinners usually go for the worst rewards which are usually offered to those who get lost and those who will never enjoy peace and love in Christ Jesus, whereas those men and women who fulfil the ordinances from The Heavens will never experience any defeat.

An unfaithful heart is the one which betrays, then flirts with sin and is also unfair when it comes to allowing his neighbour, but won’t, their opportunity to see in him someone who should be trustworthy to The Lord. Well, the ungodly have to see in us the extension of the divine mercy – faithful and holy people who stand out on account of our love towards God, the love which dwells in our hearts.

That’s the reason why you ought to keep an eye out for you never to turn your heart evil or unfaithful and you ought to strive never to join that unfortunate group since the end of all of them will be the most dreadful ever. Those people who – due to their evil deeds – caused some of the children of God to go astray shall pay too high a price and those who are evil and unreliable will receive the eternal chastisement they deserve on account of their wrongdoing.

Those who turn away from The Living God won’t go too far considering that the enemy will take them into such a tragic situation which will turn out to be a dead end indeed. So, what’s the point of letting yourself be induced by the devil and what’s the point of getting involved with the works of darkness? Wouldn’t it be much more profitable to be good and faithful? What’s the point of someone using wrong means to get something if the chastisement to be imposed on them will be eternal?

The Bible reports evil and unfaithful people, appalling examples which serve us as warnings so we won’t commit the same errors considering that none of them were ever successful. Yet, The Scripture also lets us know about those who served The Lord with all their heart. They’ll rejoice eternally and, on account of the loyalty and the reward achieved by them, they’ve become living examples for us.

The warning of Hebrews 3 verse 12 is for us not to go away from The Living God. That makes us think of The All-time-operative Lord healing the sick, delivering the oppressed and providing a solution to all issues from all those who truly turn to Him. This is The Living God we’ll all be accountable to on The Final Judgment. Are you ready to stand face-to-face with Him on The Great Day?

In Christ, with love,
