Then He inaugurated Joshua the son of Nun, and said, “Be strong and of good courage; for you shall bring the children of Israel into the land of which I swore to them, and I will be with you.

Deuteronomy 31:23

Even in our present days God assigns some of His children with a special mission. Joshua, for instance, was commanded to lead the children of Israel to the Promised Land. He had to fulfil such ordinance regardless of the hindrances he might have to face and the Lord would be with him. The Most High revealed two secrets to him: be strong and have good courage – and He would be with Joshua. Pay heed to what God tells you to do so that you can also enjoy His presence.

Joshua had been Moses’ servant for years. It is important to notice that the Almighty did not commission any of the two children of Moses to such a sublime mission. Being The Lord, He had His reasons and when He makes any decision nobody can condemn Him. He is the Holy Lord over all things, therefore His decisions are always the best ones and those who heed the Words of The Most High will always be rewarded.

The first thing that servant of God should do was to be strong. If he was not strong The Lord wouldn’t be able to help him. Always keep this instruction in your heart: when you are on a mission assigned by God, no matter how impossible it might seem to be, be strong and He will take care of the smallest details if only you don’t make Him a liar. Do not measure the blessing by the difficulty of the task but by the Holy Word.

The Lord God carried on saying to Joshua: “Be of good courage!” You’ll never be successful in any enterprise unless you have good courage. The right thing to do is this: if The Most High gives you a mission, it means He knows very well that, with His assistance, you’ll make it. Therefore, apart from being strong you have to cheer up – and that is precisely what the enemy doesn’t want to happen; after all, once discouraged you won’t have the divine assistance.

God chose Joshua and he was not in the position of saying “no”. My brother, there isn’t anybody else capable enough to accomplish the mission you have been given. The Lord is The One who qualifies you! Therefore, there’s no use thinking that somebody else could do that job better than you. It’s not somebody’s eloquence, physical appearance or intellectual skills that will get the work done. The capacity to fulfil the divine plan is granted to those He chooses.

This issue is much more serious than we can imagine. The Lord said He had sworn His people would inherit Canaan. So, because He is wise, He chose Joshua for such duty. Today, God has chosen you to accomplish certain tasks. Therefore, if you have been picked by God Himself you must not despise your opportunity because you have been chosen to be a successful person.

In the end, Joshua, after having accomplished his mission, would see that the Most High was indeed with him. What else would that servant of the Lord need? Be obedient to Him and He’ll also be with you. There’s no need for you to spend hours in prayer for God to be by your side; you only need to be obedient to Him!

In Christ, with love,
