For You have armed me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.
Psalm 18.39
Never doubt what the Word of God speaks to you, what the Word says it is your right. The Lord did everything so that his children would not experience defeat; therefore, it is not possible for Christians to lose a single battle against the enemy – unless he does not know his rights in Christ, or is in sin. In all these things we are more than conquerors (Romans 8.37)!
Knowing what awaited us, the Most High armed us with strength for the battle. When we go out to fight, we can be sure that we will return with the situation settled. In addition, Jesus said that we would receive the power of the Holy Spirit, which would come upon us (Acts 1.8). And God does not give his Spirit by measure (John 3.34), so when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit, we are imbued with his full power.
We know that, when we accepted Jesus as our Savior, we were recreated – a work carried out through God’s own son. Upon creation, the Lord examined and saw everything was good; in his “recreation” of human beings, he also examined if everything had come out as planned. So we can rest assured that we were recreated with the strength and skills necessary to keep us from dishonoring the good name of Christ, who has authority over us.
But those who have not accepted the Lord Jesus as their Savior yet do not know how much they are missing out, since they have not experienced the new birth. When we are born again, we receive all tools necessary for us to have victory in all our battles. Unfortunately, because many people live in sin and are slaves to the kingdom of darkness, they are unable to overcome the smallest temptations.
Christians need to be more confident and fight with an attitude of victory. It is not possible that the devil, having been defeated by our Master, can make those who belong to the Body of Christ suffer! We are the members of the Body, and Christ is the head (1Corinthians 12.27). Those who are in him and have him dwelling in their hearts cannot lose any battles against the devil.
David said that the Lord has subdued under us those who rose up or may rise up against us. And that is because Christ descended into hell, fought with the devil and took from him the keys of Hades and of Death (Revelation 1.18). Now Satan does not have the keys to his own house!
Brethren, do not be deceived by the devil. Enjoy a life of victory, not fearing any attacks from Satan, because you have been called to overcome – and the Bible says that the Lord will allow winners to sit with him on his throne (Revelation 3.21); but losers will receive nothing. So, if there is any sin in your life, get rid of it right now; and if any other evil appears, do not hesitate: order it to leave your life in the name of Jesus.
