You drench its furrows and level its ridges; you soften it with showers and bless its crops. Psalm 65.10

We have seen the earthly things and what happens here are like copies of what exists and occurs in the realm of the spirit. Salvation is a spiritual thing and the revelation of the Word is also from the heavenly realm. The Scriptures affirm that God fills his furrows with water – the comparison is made with the earth when the rain falls. We can believe and confess that, being visited by Him, the furrows of our “land” are also drenched.

In the words of the psalmist, God regulates the height of the flood, for there are seeds that sprout in the midst of much water and others that germinate in the midst of little. Knowing that the Lord wants life to continue – as Jesus said, there will be people alive to watch His return (Matthew 24.30-34) – we can believe that He watches over the events on our planet, so that life is not interrupted. It’s good to follow His directions without questioning His actions!

When we talk about the Lord, we are referring to a Being – who is much more than we can imagine. He is from on High, from the world of perfection; He is not one of us, but our Creator. There is no use in philosophizing about how God is or how He does things. One day, we will know Him as He is. Now, everything that people say about the eternal God has no value; but what the Bible reveals, yes, and a lot!

Since the beginning of life on Earth, the Most High has controlled everything, so that mankind will continue to exist. There were times when it seemed that it would be exterminated, but after teaching man a lesson, someone “found” the solution, which was simple. If man sought to know the Lord’s will, the problems would be solved, for everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened (Matthew 7.8).

God softens the soil so that food can be produced. Again, He uses water to show that His deeds have purposes. There are poor places, where people cannot afford to enrich the soil with chemical fertilizers. However, the simple weeds that are not removed dissolve in it and produce the nutrients necessary for a great harvest. The Lord does all this by His power and love!

People who say they don’t have time for God because there is so much money to be made, later find out they didn´t do the right thing. Those who seek Him, on the other hand, lack nothing. The Father makes a lament for Israel: If my people would only listen to me, if Israel would only follow my ways, how quickly I would subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes! (Psalm 81.13,14) Stay alert! 

Finally, the Lord blesses the new things of our land. Just as agricultural production needs to be cared for, lest pests spoil it, salvation needs to be treated with prayer and meditation on the Scriptures, lest the evil “bugs” contaminate the good food given by God (Song of Sons 2.15). Watching and praying are good attitudes!
