Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me. Acts 27.25

Paul was being taken as a prisoner to Rome to be presented to Caesar, to whom the Apostle had appealed. In a certain moment, the servant of God noticed that it would be better if they had not left from where they were, for he predicted a great storm to the commander of the ship. But who would pay attention to a prisoner? They did not know that Paul was the freest of all, and that he would later be the salvation for every soul that was onboard.

It is always good to hear the person who has the Spirit of God, because the Lord speaks through him, considering that he is not irresponsible. When the crew took notice, they were under a massive storm for many days, and they could not even see the sun and the stars. They had lost all hope that they could be rescued. However, since prophecies always come true, it is good to hear the prophets of the Most High.

While everyone in the ship was desperate, Paul was in communion with the Lord. They were for days without eating, and then, the Apostle stood up and gave a message of hope. If every man of God always lived by faith in situations such as these, he would give the right message. Then, Paul reminded them that they should have heard what he said earlier (v. 21). He who does not listen to the prophet will have losses and will be harmed in the storms to come.

The Apostle guaranteed that none of those lives would be lost, but only the ship, and instructed them to have good faith. Besides, he explained that that situation was happening because of the message that the angel of God had brought him during the night (v. 23,24). This is the type of person that the church should always have – those who live in the divine presence and deliver the word to the people. These are precious people who are needed everywhere.

The angel gave him two messages. The first said that the Apostle would be before Caesar, and the other, that all those who were traveling with him would be saved by the divine grace. He who belongs to God and lives in communion with the Father must be aware so that he never gets desperate, and at the same time, he must receive and transmit the Most High’s message. Even if people do not understand it at first, when there is no more hope of salvation, they will understand.

It happened as it had been announced to Paul. Thus, no soul was lost. Now, the ship of this world will depart, and if we are truly servants of God, the Lord guarantees that those who travel with us – who have the same faith and love for the Savior – will all reach safe Land, the heavenly Jerusalem.

The storms will come in such a fury that the wicked will be desperate, but the saved will know that nothing will stop them from reaching the safe haven that the Lord prepared. As it happened in that day, today it is also necessary that we reach our destination.

As he reached the island of Malta, Paul was used to heal Publius, the mayor of the island, and all the other sick inhabitants (28.7-10). Hallelujah!

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares

Heavenly Father, if Paul were not Your faithful servant, the world would have lost a great lesson. My request is that those who are not living according to Your Word may learn to be firm and faithful to You. Thus, Your work will reach the most hardhearted of sinners.

The commander of the ship did not believe in Your servant, and thus, he lost the ship. No lives were lost because Paul was not misled by the enemy’s lies, who had put in the hearts of the crewmen that their end had come. But Your servant believed in Your message.

May we be ready to testify about the truth in the good and bad moments, and may our message be exactly as Your messenger tells us. Then, we will see Your Word being fulfilled, and we will not be struck. And even better: we will save many people.
