Then the LORD gave Israel a deliverer, so that they escaped from under the hand of the Syrians; and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents as before.

II Kings 13:5

When a leader fails all people suffer. The seventeen-year tenure of king Jehoahaz were the worst the children of Israel had experienced because that Israeli king got get carried away by the sin of Jeroboam, who conducted the rebellion against the kingdom of David while Rehoboam ruled (I Kings 12). Because of this, the Syrians treated Israel with such ruthlessness that the Lord heard the prayers made by Jehoahaz himself and raised a savior.

However, even in the sight of his own ruin that king did not turn away from sin and as a result he was greatly humiliated because his army was reduced to 50 horsemen, 10 chariots and 10 thousand foot soldiers. Although the king of Syria had destroyed and trodden on him as dust, Jehoahaz did not understand that his persistence in error was the cause of so much suffering. Today, there are many unrepentant people who also suffer under the hands of some “Syrian king”.

When a deliverer was given, the Israelites resumed dwelling in their tents as before. Well, where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint (Proverbs 29:18). If you do not make amends with the Lord and do not heed His Word, it will take its toll on your body and then, once under the influence of the evil one, you will have no peace of mind. As a result your body will be in turmoil and the harmony between your mind and your spirit will cease to exist.

What a distressful time was that in which God’s people could not live in their own homes.  And today many people find themselves in the same situation – without attaining the promises that the Lord gave to all those who belong to Him! Are you among them? One thing is for sure: he who does not respect the divine commandments is not entitled to cry out for the Lord’s protection and live under it. Is it worth living a life of rebellion?

He who does not live in his home is unprotected. He who does not live under the guidance of the Spirit of God lives according to the course of this world. Consequently, they find no peace, discomfort becomes a routine, distress prevails, disrespect is everywhere, and the power to resist comes to an end. The army of the Israeli nation was reduced to practically nothing. What about your army? Where can it be found?

Walking the paths of sin does not pay off. The hand of the king of “Syria” is heavy, and while there is no sincere repentance and an immediate return to the submission to the Lord, there will be no peace. You must dwell in your tent as before so that you can bless the Lord’s name.

Do not walk in sin anymore; seek the Savior right now! Once you reconcile with Him, you will see that the power of the “Syrians” will no longer prevail in your life. Repentance is a small act, but it brings great blessings. You need to go to the home that God has prepared for His people. Change your story now!

In Christ with love,
