Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words.

Colossians 2: 4

The most intricate strategy of the devil to drive the saved ones away from the presence of God is using his deceitful means in order to fool them – those men and women who are not standing firm in the purpose of being obedient to our Father. The enemy strives to draw the children of The Most High’s attention to his lies so he will then be able to take them apart from The Lord. The evil art of seduction is much broader than we can imagine.

In the parable of The Sower Jesus went through the deceit of riches which turn The Word unfruitful (Luke 8: 5-15). Now, almost everybody is looking forward to having more financial resources; yet, to do so, many people end up losing their morals by committing barbaric crimes; committing marital infidelity, getting into drug smuggling and other ruthless and ungracious practices. Yet, debunking the work of God is, sadly, even worse.

Lies always cause a great deal of harm to everybody. In some cases, it can be a financial loss; in other cases, moral. Yet, in both situations ruin will be permanent. The truth is that Satan has no power to force anybody to do his will; he can only attempt to do so. Therefore, those who are not standing firm in faith are bound to do what pleases the enemy and, in doing so, they will suffer the eternal punishment.

As Eve was having a word with the serpent she committed her greatest error considering that – had she not paid heed to the serpent she would not have eaten of the fruit from the banned tree. Those who listen to the words of the enemy are also contaminated, and sadly, those who get corrupted deem righteous what is altogether wrong. That way, any inappropriate attitude will be just like keeping being obedient to the one who you should never have gotten in touch with.

Deceit can happen in all areas of our lives. You may become presumptuous in considering yourself a quite distinguished person and so you may believe that you are free from following the rule when it comes to fulfilling the commandments; or perhaps you might be cornered to the point of not being able to see any alternative apart from perpetrating illegal activities. Therefore, you ought to not be fooled with any persuasive words of men. Stand firm in what you know is the right thing to do, serve The Lord with the truths of The Word and you must never be hoaxed by any lies of the devil.

In the declarations of Colossians 2: 4 God proves He does not want any of His children to be a seed among thistles and thorns. Some people start off a project well until the enemy comes up to them and then, with his blunt lies, they end up being driven to deceit. So, only when their eyes are opened they realize how fooled they have been. That is why so many marriages are broken down; fortunes wretched; and lives cut short.

Therefore, be careful with the persuasive words considering that they have the power to blind and to lure men into turning them away from The Most High and His blessings; and that is due to the fact that the deceit brought by those words are massively strong. Those who are not standing firm in faith, as they pay heed to the arguments of the devil, will end up getting lost in the bluntest lie ever existed. Therefore, do not let The Word which, one day, opened up your eyes, become unfruitful.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
