You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked.

II Peter 3:17

This biblical passage shows that our Creator warns us of the dangers that will come up during our journey of faith – extremely risky situations which might even deceive the chosen ones. That’s the reason why we must keep an eye out. What hell has planned to cast upon humankind will be so huge that the Lord warns us, through many biblical passages, about the occurrences we’ll have to face in the near future. Many things that are considered shameful today will not only be tolerated in the times to come but will also be deemed absolutely normal.

The Lord Jesus said that offenses are unavoidable and He told us what will happen to whoever brings them on: It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea (Luke 17:1-2). Thus, those who are passing laws which allow permissiveness and can cause great indignation will be harshly punished because due to their eagerness to be elected they overlook the harm that might be caused to those whose minds are weak and end up approving such unscrupulous laws.

We, Christians, are warned by the Eternal Word that situations such as these will befall mankind, therefore we must take due precautions and never forget that there’s no solution out of Christ for this world gone mad. The earthly life will become even tougher for the godly men, so much so that the Lord asks in Luke 18:8 whether He will really find faith on the earth when He returns.

Even those servants of God who, in the past, were faithful to Him are selling themselves to the enemy nowadays. Now, if we are not on guard, there’ll be no excuses on the Last Day since the warning has already been given to us. Therefore, regardless of what people say or if some Christian leaders surrender to modernisms, there’ll be no mercy for those who, aiming at profits – either financially or otherwise – loosen the Sound Doctrine. We have to be on guard so as not to allow the devil’s proposals to take us away from our position as defenders of the divine righteousness.

The apostle Peter tells us of keeping away from people who are at the service of the empire of darkness even if they consider themselves servants of God; they may have been servants in the past, but it doesn’t matter anymore because if they have fallen it means they’re not serving the Most High any longer. According to the biblical language they’re labelled wicked men and women who excel in deception and, with Satan’s cunning, they come up with new things that lead many people into drifting away from the Truth and embracing lies and errors.

And precisely for that reason many have been led away and lived as though God and the Day of Reckoning didn’t exist. What matters to them is their own well-being and the satisfaction of their carnal desires. But they are already doomed to eternal suffering. Therefore, be careful not to be deceived along with them. When Peter speaks of “being led away” he means “losing one’s footing and getting swept off one’s feet” by deceit, which happens to those who depart from the divine ways.

As a result, today many people are no longer firm in faith. They don’t pray as they did in the past, they don’t believe in the Word anymore, and whenever they’re assaulted by evil powers they are unable to resist them since they have fallen from the spiritual steadfastness they had in the Lord. God wants all those who believe in Him to stand firm. Therefore, don’t let the error of the wicked corrupt you. Retain that which you have learned from the Scriptures and don’t allow any “novelty” to lead you astray for they have destroyed many lives.
