“All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.” (Matthew 11:27)

This statement made by our Lord is of the utmost importance mainly for the members of the Body of Christ who are interested in saving the lost. Jesus is telling us that there’s a mystery in conversion; therefore, we’d better learn from the Lord in order for us to be successful doing the divine work, otherwise we will be working in vain. We should not waste time and neither should we lead anyone to deception.

There’s nothing that hasn’t been delivered to Jesus, our Captain. In John 6 verse 44 Christ said nobody can get to Him if they were not brought by the Father. Therefore, we should ask the Most High to take sinners to our meetings and open their understanding so that they can realize how important salvation is and give themselves over to our Savior. Even those labourers of the divine harvest must be ordered by God. If the Work is His, it must be thoroughly backed by Him.

It had never caught my attention that fact that nobody – nobody indeed – knows the Son; only the Father has this capacity. I’ve just learnt that lesson and it got me dumbfounded, my brethren. I confess I had never thought about it but the truth is that the Son of God has never been known by anybody but the Father. Whether this applies to the angels as well I don’t know. Yet, He says “nobody” knows the Son. Only the Father had that privilege. Likewise, no one knows the Father but the Son. My God! The Lord and His Son have never made themselves known to any of their creations; only They know Each Other. I know that Jesus stated that the angels of the little ones saw the face of our Father (Matthew 18. 10), but, perhaps, that was all they could see. That goes beyond what I have ever heard! However, He says that we’ll know the Most High in eternity the way we’re known by Him now (I Corinthians 13:12).

Some people will be given the pleasure to know our Father; now, it’s Jesus who will decide who He’ll grant that privilege to. We get to know God little by little – either the Father or the Son – by hearing the preaching of the Word, by reading the Bible and by meditating on these truths.

At times, we tend to think we have enough light. So, some people begin to despise others because they think they’re special, wise and privileged. I pity the arrogant people because what they have learnt will cease and all that’s left for them is a vain heart which urgently needs to convert and to be at our Savior’s feet.

Those who give themselves to vanity have no knowledge of the One who’s meek and lowly in heart (Matthew 11:29). Their souls are continuously troubled, their ways are gloomy and evil’s always lurking in their lives. How blessed we were when we got to know the Savior who’s meek and lowly in heart, weren’t we? That’s the way all of those who learn from Jesus will be! So, my brethren, seek Him right away!

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
