The apostle Peter’s affection for the brethren in Christ is commendable. Despite years of service, he was not satisfied with being used in his youthful days, but was ready before the eternal King to contribute a little more to those who were doing the work as the Lord wanted. That is the way we have to do to the people we shepherd. Giving the Bread is one of the noblest missions of the children of God!
Peter was tireless in the Lord’s work. For him, nothing was more just and timely than to spend his days instructing people and warning them of the danger of following Jesus from afar. If they did so, they might even deny the Master, as the apostle himself had done. The farther you are from the Lord, the closer you are to the king of wickedness. Now, the evil one must be rebuked and cast out.
If every Christian considered his work as righteous, he would teach everyone about God’s kindness. As a result, there would be less giving up on returning to fellowship with the Most High. Through Peter, the Father warns us that the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5.8).
Peter knew that in a short time he would be taken to the Lord, whom he loved and who made him a fisher of men. One day we will also be at the Savior’s side, who will come for us when the time is right. We are not of the world (John 15.19), so we will not stay here. Our abode is eternal, in heaven. However, until our time comes, we must consider it right to fulfill our mission with diligence and faithfulness.
Those who work in the divine harvest with love and take the Word to the lost, as well as to those who have already been sanctified by the blood of Christ, would like to stay a little longer in the world to give the best of themselves to the Lord. However, since we don’t decide the time to be in God’s presence, we need to get used to saying yes to the One who has privileged us in a special way, leading us to do His will. To God be the glory!
Several times we will not feel ready, but as we are used by the Most High, we will realize that this happened by divine mercy, never because of our worth. Since the Holy Spirit is our Guide in everything, we can only remain faithful and ready to say amen when we receive the call. So, get ready and wait for the task to be done with love.
The divine work needs people who are moved by every task entrusted to them. The right thing is to wait for the heavenly summons and do your best in every way. When you are reaped, there will be no time for preparation. So be ready to serve the Lord here or in Glory!
In Christ, with love,

Lord of our awakening! What help Peter gave to those who hoped in You! His eyes were fixed on Your promise to take them to the eternal home. The apostle had already tasted Your love as he followed You.
Help us to understand Your glorious plan and to make the right decisions. We don't want to leave anything untidy, without proper guidance. May our disciples truly be Your servants!
We are grateful for the time You let us share in Your love and Your mercy to help so many people. We are glad and praise Your Name, for Your favor helps many to be fulfilled in You!
