So Jacob came to Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him.    Genesis 35.6

Free from enemies, fears, gods, all wrath and wicked plan of the people who did not know the Lord, Jacob and his family members came to the Light. It was good to give Jesus the place of Lord in our lives. As it is written, it will also happen to us: No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling (Psalm 91.10). Those who walk with God never see obstacles. Believe and live!

Those who walk toward Bethel, being led by the Holy Spirit, get there, and no evil can stop them. Although the devil roars his hatred against the servants of the Most High, they let themselves be led by the eyes of the Father, and nothing can stop them. So be steadfast and walk by faith, for Jesus has promised never to leave or forsake you (Hebrews 13.5). Never fail any of the Lord’s blessed words.

When your heart understands God’s love, you become a collector of victories: Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us (Romans 8.37). The Christian’s qualification in the Kingdom of Heaven shows that he is superior to the power of Hell. Do not accept an inferior position or any threat from the kingdom of evil. After all, the devil’s place is under your feet (Romans 16.20). To God be the glory!

It seemed that the journey would be dangerous, for Jacob thought that the Canaanites and the Pherezites would go against them to avenge the destruction of the people of the city of Shechem, but nothing happened. The journey was as smooth as could be, for God brought His terror down on the people of the region, and none of them asked for any explanation of the destruction of the Hivites. The Lord’s work is always perfect!

The patriarch’s heart was filled with emotion as he saw the ladder placed on the earth and reaching up to the heavens, with angels ascending and descending. It represented God’s Covenant with Abraham, reaffirmed later with Isaac and now with him. Whoever believes in Jesus needs to learn their rights in Christ and enjoy them. Thus, the Lord will be glorified in the works done in His holy Name. This is our mission!

Finally, Jacob and his family arrived in Bethel, and the change in them would be complete. What had happened in Shechem was past, and the terror of the Most High would guard them from all evil wherever they went. Now, the work would be spiritual, when the Lord would give them the chance to get rid of the traps of darkness and to walk as His servants. It took going through the lesson of Shechem, to exchange the false gods for the living God!

The promise made to Abraham included Isaac, Jacob and their children, as well as all who believe in the Lord to this day. We are part of the same Covenant, so we should meditate on what was said to Jacob. No doubt this also refers to us. We have been delivered by Jesus; therefore, we belong to Him, and He belongs to us unconditionally!

In Christ, with love,

Lord who cares for us! The journey of starting over may be long, but it is worth it. Your Spirit will lead us to Bethel, and that is what we want and will do to reach our highest goal. We can't stay only in the good memories!

Our Bethel is spiritual, where we were awakened at the beginning of our salvation. Therefore, we will do what is necessary; after all, we do not want to lose the blessing promised to us. We already feel the excitement that awaits us upon our arrival, all for Your glory!

We are grateful to You, because You have been patient with us, sustaining us in the sad hours when we have been under the attack of temptations. You guide us as You guided Jacob. One day, we will give thanks for the blessed Bethel!
