Learn to do good; Seek justice, rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.

Isaiah 1:17

The orientations the Lord gave to His people so that they would flee from sin and reach the healing of their land are a continuation of what He had already declared, when He taught Israel to remove whatever blocked divine action. Now, God concedes us new directions so that we can complete what we must do and so that His power may operate freely in our lives. If these lessons are followed by each one of us, they will help us to enjoy the best.

To do good is not something we are born with; we learn how do to good observing what the Lord’s servants did in the past. Isaiah wrote this message 700 years before our Master was born. If we really want to learn how to do good, we should look to Jesus and observe the way He proceeded when He was here on Earth. Just by following Him, we will become masters in the art of doing good.

The sons of God should practice what’s written in the Scriptures, because this is good before our Father. The Biblical examples were described just like a map, so that we will follow them and achieve victory because of that. Whoever wastes time doing useless things isn’t doing right; after all, the Lord has already shown us how to do His work: we should follow His orientations and we’ll be successful.

The oppressed can never achieve success; on the other hand, whoever learns with Jesus knows how to act in any situation. Whoever has the Spirit of God inside them should meditate on the Word of God, and they’ll receive the correct orientations inside their spirit. We will never proceed correctly unless we follow the orientations from the Holy Spirit.

If you see someone committing a mistake, don’t go tell others about it. The oppressed always follow the orders of the oppressor, for they are hell’s servants; but you can help them. Because you have God inside you, you can intercede for them and use the Lord’s authority to stop the enemy from afflicting their lives.

The spiritual orphans are those who don’t have the Lord as their Father, and because of that, they don’t receive anything from Him. Whoever has the devil as an authority over his or her life is in need of good things. As a servant of God, you can make justice to people who are in this situation. The prayer of the righteous is powerful in its effects (James 5:16); pray for these people; this way you will please the Lord, who loves all mankind.

The widows described in this verse represent the people who lost the One who sustains them, and because of that, they can’t hold on. However, use the authority that was given to you, rebuke evil and bless these lives, because this way they will restore their communion with the Father!

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
