Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses.

Psalm 107:19

God is Father and as such He is always ready to help those who seek Him wholeheartedly. However, there are many Christians who by not doing so will continue to live miserably until the day they decide to speak to the Lord openly. When His children seek Him in truth, the Most High shows what’s preventing them from receiving what they ask for as well as the sinful practices they have to give up on. But then, if even after receiving God’s guidance they insist on remaining in error, then the rebels will no longer be heard.

It took the Israelites a lot of distress before they decided to cry out to God. They must have tried everything, but because they found no relief they eventually obeyed the Lord. If you also have done everything you can but still haven’t been delivered, why don’t you surrender to the Father and accept what He says? It’s no use “knocking your head against the wall” because the loss will be all yours.

Entreating the Lord is more than crying for help. Actually, it implies accepting God’s guidance and entering into covenant with Him. While it doesn’t happen, you cannot derive benefits from the Most High because His boons belong to His children, not to the rebels. He who has God’s commandments and keeps them truly loves the Most High and consequently is loved by Him (John 14:21).

So, make sure you do what the Almighty has told you because it’s by being obedient that one manages to be heard. Most assuredly, your life will completely change if you fit in the divine plan for He promised never to abandon those who truly believe in Him. However, if you don’t take heed of what the Blesser says, there’s no point in seeking your blessing; after all, he who believes is the only one who sees the glory of God.

In times of distress and when all else fails, if we make the right decision, we will get the attention of the One who can do all things because with Him there are no hindrances to the operation of miracles. Now, the Lord will do whatever it takes if circumstances are favorable to Him, but He will never heal an individual if he or she continues to serve the devil. That’s because He loves everyone and therefore He will never help the enemy to have someone in his filthy hands.

The Israelites were saved out of all their distresses. This proves that there are no limits to the Almighty, but we limit Him with our pride, presumption and rebellion. So if someone says “yes” to the divine guidance, God will free that person’s life from the devil’s oppression. Only those who trust in God will not be ashamed.

How about asking the Holy Spirit to help you see where you have been wrong? Then pay attention to what He says through the preaching of the Word or the reading of the Bible. In so doing, you will be able to set your record straight and you will stop stumbling and will no longer find yourself in the hands of the wicked one. Remember that the Lord God is faithful and righteous (I John 1:9) and therefore He shall confirm His Word.

In Christ with love,
