In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry entered His ears.
II Samuel 22: 7
Many think that the saints of God live in a hiding place and away from being reached by temptations, but the fact is that temptations come upon everybody. Even being consecrated as servants of the Lord many have discovered that anguish frequently visits them. “So, is there no way out?” someone might ask themselves. Of course there is! That is why David made that statement which is recorded in the book of Samuel. Therefore, if you are going through any hardship you must not let yourself be carried away by the tempter; get connected to the Lord and invoke Him so, this way, evil will not resist you any longer.
We are different from those who have not yet accepted Jesus as their Saviour in, at least, one point: we have The Way Out because we can invoke our God. Those who do that with faith and determination will be successful; on the other hand, if those who are saved neither enjoy their prerogatives nor invoke the Almighty One, they will certainly keep on being under the oppression of the enemy. We need to look to the biblical examples and behave like our brothers from that time who achieved victory for they understood the divine ordinances and put them into practice. This way, we will certainly receive the same blessings.
Instead of spending time crying and in despair while he asked God if that was the way He dealt with His servants, David opened his mouth and firmly cried out to the Lord. My brother, in times of affliction, you must not shut up or lose heart; it is your duty to cry out; to pray with faith and determination based on the teachings of the Bible. As you take that attitude you will be heard and the Almighty One will do something in your favour. However, if you shut up before an evil assault you will not have heavenly assistance.
The prayer of faith is the one we say with all our strength and trust based on what the Word of God says. Look carefully: it is not the prayer of fear or of luck or of doubt, but it’s the prayer of faith, of conviction; the one that does not accept a “no” as an answer and it prevents the enemy from prevailing. That’s the prayer that goes into the temple of God; the one that moves the hand of the Lord and makes the divine power operate in our favour.
Your outcry has to reach the Most High – and that is possible when it is made with faith on what the Word of the Lord declares. You must never pray for fear, but for faith because this way our voice is taken to the ears of our Father who cannot hear the prayer of doubt or hesitation. Your outcry of faith can make the work be accomplished.
That is how the so called heroes of faith made wonders: by invoking the Almighty One without sticking to their own merits (Hebrews 11) and they also behaved according to what was being ministered to them. Today, if we do the same thing, once we have received faith, we will reach the same blessings given to those men from the past. So, make your prayer go into the temple of God and make them get to His ears!
