“And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the LORD your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.” (Joshua 2:11)
The devil managed to turn Rahab into a prostitute; however, the victory he achieves over some people isn’t permanent because God sees through everything. Therefore, those who are sincere, even if they are in error, they will be visited by the Lord and will have the opportunity to be delivered because He did not make man to be a slave to sin. Even though some people are momentarily in error there will come a day when the light of freedom will shine upon them. Therefore we need to preach the Good Word in season and out of season (II Timothy 4:2).
Though Rahab was living in sin she was longing for the good hand of the Most High to come upon her one day. Those who believe that the Lord will provide for them will sooner or later find His love at work. How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace (Romans 10:15), those who spread the precious seed (Psalm 126:6) because they take part in the work that is the most touching to our Creator’s heart. A person’s intelligence reaches its peak when he/she pays heed to the Words of God. That’s what happened to Rahab.
The wonders the Lord was performing in favor of the children of Israel were widespread and those who heard of them knew at once that God was among that people. Likewise, what has been taking place in our midst must be made known, from a simple healing to a huge miracle such as the deliverance of someone who was plunged in sin. Telling people what God has done is a powerful message
which will do a tremendous good to those who are waiting for the manifestation of the Most High.
They may not admit it but the worldly people are thirsty for hearing the Good News. Some have not even realized that yet, but the emptiness in their hearts – which cannot be filled with anything else – is a proof of that fact. Actually, the discontentment of the human soul is the absence of the living God. Yet, when we preach the Word of God under the anointing of the Holy Spirit those souls come to the conclusion that they’ve always needed the Lord but just didn’t know it before. Those who hear the Gospel are flooded by a holy joy such as they had never felt before or known its existence. This happens because Jesus Himself visits them.
My brethren, if a person accepts the Words of God, He does operate in his or her life. Rahab’s decision – which showed her faith (Hebrews 11:31) – of hiding the spies was a command of the Lord to her. Therefore, do what you feel you must do when you hear the messengers of Heaven because that is an instruction from God. She confessed what was going on among her people and because she believed in the wonders the Lord was performing, she was saved. Do not put it off, make your decision now!
In Christ, with love,
