Declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. Romans 1.4

At the beginning of his letter to the Romans, the apostle Paul states that Jesus was declared to be God’s Son in power. He had stripped Himself of this prerogative when He came into the world to rescue us from the captivity of sin and its consequences (Philippians 2.5-11). It was not a decree that set us free from the devil’s clutches, but the work of Christ. Not only were we delivered, but we also overcame the tempter, because the Savior took our sins upon Himself (Isaiah 53.4,5).

In His sacrifice, Jesus stood alone in Hell, battled against the evil kingdom and overcame Satan and the demons. You cannot imagine the fight He waged and how hard the accuser tried to hold His position. When the work was finished, the Holy Spirit went to the tomb and quickened Jesus. And in the power of the same Spirit, the Redeemer was raised from the dead (Romans 8.11). Before returning to the Father, Christ gave the last instructions to His disciples and ascended to Heaven!

When we accept Jesus as Savior, we are declared to be God’s children (John 1.12). He is Father only to those who are His children. Let’s assume our position as saved ones and act according to the Scriptures! We don’t have to beg or fail to sit down at the table prepared for us in the presence of our enemies (Psalm 23.5). The enemy gnashes his teeth with hatred, but we don’t even mind such threats.

The Comforter, who sanctifies us in the Word – by coming upon us, brings the declaration that we are God’s property. Nothing else can take us out of this new position in Christ (Romans 8.16). Now, we must begin to act as children of light, people recreated to a living hope (1 Peter 1.3). We are more than conquerors in Jesus!

If we are children of the Almighty, why not proceed as such? The work of the Almighty must be done while we are here, for we will have to give an account of the talents received from His hands. There is nothing to fear when we fulfill the divine will; after all, we are clothed in His protection – the breastplate of righteousness (Ephesians 6.14). We are protected by the One who is perfect. Hallelujah!

If you are still walking in the flesh, oppressed by evil thoughts and temptations, take advantage and purify yourself from these things, claiming the holiness Jesus asked for – before heading back to Heaven: Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth (John 17.17). The Savior never had a single request denied (John 11.42); so, believe that your sanctification is possible. Whoever walks with the Lord – has Him with himself, at all times.

The same power that raised Jesus, which will also raise us on the last Day, declares: The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, (Romans 8.16). All that remains is for you to take on yourself. Christ assumed what the Father said about Him (Matthew 28:18). Do that!

In Christ, with love,

God who declared Jesus to be His Son! What a beautiful statement You have made, for Your Word concerning the Savior has been fulfilled. We believe what He said, when He warned us that He would not throw us away. Thank You for making us Your heirs!

We want to fulfill Your plan, when You designed our sonship. We can declare that we are Your children, because when we received Jesus, You gave us the power to be called so. To You be the glory!

We await the day when Jesus will seek us, in order to take us out of this sinful world. Our life is hidden in You. The kingdom of evil will never oppress us again. We are the successors of Your work!
