And you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I command you to do this thing.

Deuteronomy 24:22

The care of the Lord with the less fortunate is great. However, it is not just the less well-off materially, but also those who do not understand that they should convert and serve God wholeheartedly. We must always be alert to what the Holy Spirit commands us to do for those people, because if we follow His directions, we will be well rewarded in the great Day.

The Almighty saw the bondage of the Israelites in Egypt and soon began doing something for them. In order to deliver His people from that situation He summoned Moses who immediately obeyed and was anointed for the work. As a result, what is the role of Moses for all eternity? No doubt, it is a very important one. That’s because those who serve the Lord not only do good deeds in this life but will also do in the hereafter.

It is good to bring to mind the time when you were guided by the tenets of this world. That spirit that works in the children of disobedience can no longer be the master of your life. However, you will stumble if you do not let the Holy Spirit guide you because being directed by Him is walking in the light and he who does not walk in the light will always stumble.

When you remember the suffering of bondage, you will realize how much the unsaved suffer. They have no peace, security and cannot be free from the attacks of the enemy. From experience you know how much the evil one is wicked and ruthless, so you are the right person to go to someone who has not tasted the love of God and speak of the love that satisfies all men completely.

How many times have you seen your plans fall through? How often have you made plans and when it seemed you would succeed you saw everything fall apart? So it happens with other people. However, when they also hear what God tells them, their lives will change and then they will feel accomplished. But pay attention! Because they do not know any better, they will defend themselves as they can.

The Israelites had to think of those who had no possessions. There is no shame in being poor; shameful is not to help those who find themselves in such a situation. By helping, the Lord will reward you and you will have the joy of having done something for those in need. He who helps others will be restored double.

It is possible to understand that God would cause the Israelites to forget some fruit on the plant so that the poor could benefit from them. Today, He does the same by leading us to help someone or reminding us to bless the needy. Therefore, pray that you are not fruitless in faith. By obeying the Lord your profit will be higher.

In Christ with love,

R. R. Soares
