Jonah obeyed the word of the LORD and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very large city; it took three days to go through it.        Jonah 3.3

The evasive prophet finally wanted to do what was right, because he knew the patience of the Lord wouldn’t last forever. This is a warning for those systematically in sin. If Heaven’s door is closed, you shall be lost for eternity. Thus, you will pray and cry out to God in vain. For the careless virgins, the landlord said it was useless knocking at the door, once the opportunity was gone. Watch and pray!

Stop living in sin! Don’t leave this decision for “tomorrow”. Do it right now! The lack of respect and consideration will prevent you from receiving the blessings. Then, when you need the most, even if you cry out with all your heart, it may be too late. Paul mentioned the factious man. Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them. (Titus 3:10). Deflect from the error to escape spiritual death and its consequences.

Some stand up to do only what they deem right. Jonah did this before, but, later, he stood up to fulfill the heavenly purposes. There is no use in doing what you are used to do just to prove your superiority, because God wants to see you practicing His commandments. When you obey, you find that your mission was the best thing that could happen to you. The Father is kind and merciful.

Go to your Nineveh, for there is your operational field, where you shall count on Lord’s help all the time. Those who do as they please, thinking that, somehow, were helping  God’s Works, discover that met only their fleshly desires, which is of no use. The Almighty rejects the human will, but those who do as He says pleases Him.

Do everything according to the Word and you shall have your determinations answered. Guidance for those with a good purpose will come naturally, because the Holy Spirit shall guide you in the Truth. Being guided throughout all the details, you shall not deviate from the Path. Those who submit to the Almighty find out that He does not abandon his servants or leave them alone when they are tempted.

Nineveh was a great city, lost and about to succumb to destruction; But the Lord loved its people. There are many Nineveh around the world, but there are few workers loving the Lord and willing to go through sacrifices in order to bring other ninevites to the Kingdom. Don’t you ever wish to choose where to serve God; follow the direction He gives you, for there you shall find Him.

It doesn’t matter how long the path is, but, that you go through it with the help of the Lord, doing what pleases God. There is nothing better than feeling the guidance of the Almighty at every step. On the other hand, those who do as they wish in the Works of the Lord shall be in trouble. Get rid of devil’s lies, by serving God only.
