Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.

Numbers 20: 12

It is always good to hear The Lord speaking, but it is not good to get a contrary decision from Him. To make sure that will not happen you must pay heed to His commands to you and, under no circumstance, you should do the work recklessly. All those divine precepts must be considered because, in the work of God, the end does not justify the means. He warns us that we must be holy because He is holy (I Peter 1: 16).

Those who do not do exactly what they are told are not only failing to accomplish God´s will but they are also giving signs that they do not believe in Him either. That happened to Moses whom The Lord instructed to gather The Israelites and to speak to the rock for water to come out of it (Numbers 20: 8). Yet, Moses was enraged and, this time, he did as he whished: he struck the rock twice with his rod. That Rock was representative of Christ who was only to be struck once.

The purpose of The Most High in getting water from that rock for the second time, and now through the voice of the man of God, was much greater than that of providing him with that so precious liquid in a miraculous way. That act would cause Him to be sanctified before the eyes of the children of Israel. Yet, Moses’ anger made him speak harshly to that people and then he struck the rock. The lesson we are taught here is the following: we must never be carried away by our instincts.

His sentence was not small. You must know that God does as He pleases. You may think that your sin is small, but those who have worked just for one hour get paid by The Lord the same way as those who have worked a whole day. He has already said that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6: 23). It is not about how offensive one has been to others, but the wages of one’s error.

A forty-year mission with so many trials meant nothing. That is the reason why you must not let yourself be deceived by the numerous times our Father may have used you to carry out a project. Do not fall for the lies of the enemy when he says that you are special, or that God is not that severe as He seems to be. A kiss from somebody who is not your soul mate, your spouse, may represent your segregation from the eternal life or you’re being banned from enjoying a great blessing. Sinning never pays off!

Look out! You may get lost, even if you have spent many years serving The Most High. He will not take you as innocent if you do not fulfil the mission you have been appointed to. It is wise to pay attention to your attitudes and strive not to do whatever you wish, but only do what The Lord tells you to. Those tiny details we foolishly deem insignificant may be not so to Him.

There is no partiality with God (Romans 2: 11). Those who do good will enjoy rest our Eternal Father grants, but those who do evil shall experience His hard and inflexible sentence. You must always be willing to have The Lord as your Attorney, not your Judge, because The Judge will be merciless. Strive not to fail the main purpose of your calling.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
