13/09/2012 - DO NOT LET YOUR BONES GROW OLD

When I kept silent, my bones grew old through my groaning all the day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my vitality was turned into the drought of summer. I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin.

Psalm 32:3-5

King David was used by God to teach us precious lessons. One of them is about what happened to him for not having confessed his sin. Temptations do come up but provided we don’t yield to them, we won’t commit any sin. The Spirit of God wrestles with us so we won’t fall into temptation but once we succumb to them there is no way out but to repent, acknowledge our transgression and, if need be, make up for what we did.

While David didn’t confess his transgressions he saw his bones growing old. No matter how old you are, if you’re a servant of God and do not harbor any sin in your heart, your appearance, state of mind and demeanor will remain youthful. By insisting on your errors you cause your spirit to grow old. Your soul will groan every day for it won’t accept the idea of heading towards eternal doom.

David groaned because the Lord’s hand was heavy upon him. Today God does the same to those who sin, precisely because He loves them and He knows that if they don’t get rid of their transgression they won’t escape condemnation, which is unavoidable. Those who don’t make amends with our Father will experience a huge dilemma in their lives: on one hand, they want to go to Heaven, but on the other hand shame or prides causes them to hide their error.

David realized that even his mood had changed. After he sinned, that king’s inner being was likened to a land in the drought of summer: dry and brittle, with no life in it. When that happens, the individual has no more joy of living, he/she becomes despondent, ill-humored and cranky and people end up avoiding them. That’s a sign the Creator has placed on us so we won’t hide any sin but rather confess it in order to be delivered from it.

When David acknowledged his wickedness he did the right thing: he confessed his sin and didn’t hide his iniquity. He admitted that he was wrong and he didn’t lie saying that what he did was not on purpose or that he hadn’t planned it. The king told the Lord his error was indeed intentional and evil just as anyone who wants to act recklessly does. Be always honest and don’t put the blame of your transgressions on other people. If you do yearn to be cleansed, open up your heart and confess all of your sins.

David said to himself he’d confess his sin to God so it’s high time for you to be in communion with the Lord, to open your mouth and make your confession. Now is the best time for you to open up your heart and acknowledge your error to Him. While you’re reading this message the Spirit of God is speaking straight into your heart. He’ll forgive yours sins if you’re honest to Him. You’ll probably have to go up to the people whom you’ve wronged and make amends with them too. It was the Most High Himself who convinced David of his errors and once his confession was made the Lord forgave that king’s transgressions. Be straightforward and the Lord will do the same to you (I John 1:9).

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
