28/11/2010 - DO NOT MISS OUT ON YOUR REWARD

If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. (I Corinthians 3:14)

All the works we do will be tested so we’d better be on the alert. On the Great Day, it will not matter how highly people think of the works they do to the Lord, but the kind of work and the material used for its accomplishment. If you let the enemy fool you and make you believe only in the importance of the results, it will make you think you are wasting your time because the ends do not justify the means.

The Lord is holy, and all His servants should also be like Him (I Peter 1:16); therefore, strive not to use any tool of the evil one while carrying out God\’s work. It should be done according to the standard set by Jesus because the Lord Himself says so (John 15:15). Once the Master demonstrated the proper way to fulfill the divine commandments, no worker can give the excuse that he did not know how to execute them. The Lord\’s work must be performed in accordance with the guidelines obtained by reading the Bible and hearing the preaching of the Word of God (II Timothy 3:16-17).

It is not wrong to want material things, but only after having sought the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). The servant of God should never be carried away by something that might embarrass him (II Timothy 2:4). With honesty and faithfulness to the Word we do works which even if being passed through the fire will still remain. However, the works carried out with lies or with other hellish tools will burn; they will not resist the great test.

Once knowing that our deeds will be tested in the fire of God, why work for nothing? Why to deceive ourselves? The Lord, who is just, will not allow His servants to use something that comes from the enemy in the divine service. My brethren, he who gets carried away by appearances fall into temptation. Do not do something just to not look bad in front of others or to be applauded because this is a mistake; he who does so is striving in vain.

If our works are burnt, we will suffer damage. As the law-abiding citizen does not want to be involved in any contention by avoiding getting involved in any crime or misdemeanor, so must the servants of God strive not to miss out on anything on the Great Day. It is better to have done little but something that will pass the test rather than having done a lot but seeing the work being discarded. Do not use fake resources; rather, do work with the weapons of righteousness (Ephesians 6:10-18).

God raised you to be His joy. So please Him on the Great Day. The Most High was pleased to call Saul to be the first king of Israel, but when he transgressed the pleasure of the Lord turned into regret. My prayer is that such thing may never be written about you. Say, \”Amen.\”

In Christ with love,

R. R. Soares
