20/10/2018 - DO NOT PROFANE THE NAME OF THE LORD

When they came to the nations, wherever they went, they profaned My holy name—when they said of them, ‘These are the people of the Lord, and yet they have gone out of His land. Ezekiel 36: 20

Israel was blessed with the revelation of the power of the Name of the Lord, by being chosen as God’s people. To establish itself as such, Jacob had to fight in his mother’s womb with his brother, who was greater than him, and was rewarded with the covenant of God sealed at Bethel. We also need the Almighty to make a covenant with us within the New Covenant established by Jesus with mankind.

Unfortunately, the sons of Jacob became idolaters, and this led to a complete downfall, for they began to disrespect the Word of God. The wealth that increased each year caused them to leave the Well of Living Waters and give themselves in to the vilest sins. They had the same fate of the nations that inhabited Canaan before them and were so corrupted that they were sent to Babylon, where they lived as slaves for 70 years. Sad!

The arrival of the Israelites in Babylon was a great humiliation. Those who should be an example were slaves now. This profaned the holy name of the Most High. When the Israelites were asked where they came from, people considered the Lord as a failure and disrespected Him. The people of God went through days of agony, pain and shame! Today, many have mocked the glorious Name of Jesus.

Imagine how the heart of the Father was! Instead of helping the nations, leading them to seek the Lord, Israel led them to disrespect the Name of God, which was used in vain by the lost. The Most High did not destroy the Israelites entirely for the sake of His name (Ezekiel 36: 21), but they spent 70 years serving the enemy when they should have been lords in the land of Node. There are many “Christians” living in bondage!

They were spared because the Almighty loves His Name. By saying that He would bring them back (verse 24), the Lord promised to cleanse them so that they would do His will again. God promised to use clean water – revelation of His Word – to cleanse them from all filthiness (v. 25). This promise is at the disposal of those who wish to love Him and be loved by Him. The Most High will take action on your behalf, as long as you claim it.

When you do not live the Gospel, the Good News, as you should, living in holiness and using the divine power to be healed and prosper, you might be staining the Name of Jesus stained. Then, difficult times will come over your life. Why collaborate with the enemy in his  struggle to destroy man, if you can be a blessing in the hands of God?

Live in a way that does not bring any grievance to the Name of the Lord. Otherwise it will hurt the pure heart of the Father. He brought the Israelites back to Canaan because of His Name, which should be glorified and not blemished. Enjoy the love of God and do not deceive yourself with the evil one. In a short time, there will be signs of divine favor.

In Christ with love,

God of the Most Holy Name! The Israelites made a mistake living in idolatry and error! They could not imagine how that would dishonor You. Thus, when they were asked where they came from, people said that Your Name was not what they supposed it was.

What a shame! Instead of confessing that in fact You are holy, the arrival of the Israelites in Babylonian land as slaves was an evidence that You did not keep them as You should. But those responsible for that did not serve You.

Many brothers act like the lost and do not speak of Your love because they live in disagreement with the Gospel. Father, may they reflect on this kind of life, which causes others to despise Your Name. May our lives be to honor You! Amen!
