He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him. John 7.18

To speak from yourself does not consist only of praising yourself, but also using your own arguments and means to carry out God’s work. If a Christian is not careful, his mind will take control of his life, and then, instead of serving as a prophet of the Almighty God, he will say whatever he thinks, will make whatever decisions he deems as right, but finally he will realize that he hindered God’s plan. When a child of God is used by the Holy Spirit, he thinks, speaks and acts in the same way as the Master.

The revelation given to us is infinitely greater and more powerful than any human arguments. What belongs to man belongs to this world, therefore is not able to overcome principalities, powers, the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6.12). And it is against those forces that we must fight. In the spiritual war, human arguments, even if they arise in the most consecrated heart, are powerless to overcome evil.

We need to seek that which comes from God; only this way we may have the Word that has heavenly power to undo all works of the devil. Jesus focused all his attention when he healed Peter’s mother-in-law. He knew that her illness was the devil’s way of making her suffer and, at the same time, making Peter feel ashamed. In face of any attack from evil forces, do not retreat: be steadfast and act with courage.

When you seek God’s glory, you can do the same works done by Jesus. And that is how God wants to see each of his children. If there is anything evil in you, get rid of it as fast as you can, because whenever there is sin hidden in us, God cannot act. The Scriptures say that our iniquities separate us from the Lord (Isaiah 59.2a). But if you have fellowship with him, there is nothing that you cannot do.

True servants of God seek his glory. Those who claim to be sent by God are only interested in personal gain. They are picky about how, where, and when to “minister” in the name of God but, by acting in this manner, they achieve nothing. But he who is a real servant of the Almighty God is like the wind that blows where it wishes, not knowing where he comes from and where he goes (John 3.8). These are the people we must find.

No unrighteousness is found in those who serve God. From their mouths comes out words that only edifies, and they are always used by the Spirit of God, which proves that they have been with Jesus. You can be and must strive to be this sort of person. It does not matter your activity here, because still today the Lord uses those who heed his call to prepare and present themselves approved to God (2Timothy 2.15). Be a real servant of the Lord.
