They gather together, they hide, they mark my steps, when they lie in wait for my life.  Psalm 56:6

Let us never forget that we have a declared opponent, who, if possible, will kill us all at the first chance het gets. We need to remember that we have the Most High on our side, protecting us from harm. The apostle Paul said: What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31). We can answer His question, without changing the meaning, by saying: “If there is anyone, will it help? The Lord is greater!”.

David said that his enemies were gathering together; so when any of them attack us, we must understand that this is a bigger plan from Hell – worked out long ago. But if we pray to God, He will dismantle every evil counsel formed against us. Now, if we are in sin, we don’t have to accept the devil’s “order” saying that we are the only ones responsible for this attack. After all, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

The adversaries group together, exchange information and plan everything down to the smallest detail. However, if we are in communion with the Lord, He will warn us of Satan’s requests. Then, we obey God’s touches and reveal our faults to Him. Thus, He Himself will put a stop to the plan of the king of wickedness. Having opened our hearts to the Most High and felt joy return to our lives, we need no longer speak of error, but live in freedom!

The psalmist also stated that his opponents were hiding. This work is filled with evil, and their prize is to take us out of the presence of the King of kings and make us miserable, who will drag themselves before God like never before. Now, we must go to the Lord with the dignity of sons. If we have sinned, we must report our transgressions, but if we have not sinned, we must ignore the accuser, believing and acting as children of the One who is the Truth.

For us, who believe in the Word, it makes no difference whether the opponents join together or come alone to face us; whether they are hidden or in the open to do their evil deeds. Being servants of the Almighty, we can say that the greater is never afraid of the lesser: You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

The enemies spied on David’s steps, but never succeeded in having him in their hands. When David was rebuked by Nathan the prophet, who had told a parable to say that the king was that rich man, he recognized his iniquity (2 Samuel 12:1-15). Now, if he had denied his wrongdoing, it would have been as if he were making that mistake again, with an aggravating factor. But because of his sincerity, he was forgiven. Forgiveness restores us to the Father’s presence!

Finally, the psalmist says that the enemy was waiting for his death, but he was completely frustrated, which will always be the case. One day, when it is the Lord’s will, He will take us to His Kingdom of peace and love, where we will stay for eternity. This is how the Bible talks about the death of a saved person: Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints (Psalm 116:15).

In Christ, with love,

God of our life! When You want to take us to Heaven, no amount of crying will stop You. It will be a precious moment to Your eyes. The evil one can fight with all his weapons to anticipate that day, but he will never succeed!

The strategies of darkness should never bother or terrify us. After all, the devil is a liar, and his "reasons" create slanders and crimes, which will not be the basis for You to take us out of the world.

The slanderers may gather, hide, spy on our steps and lie in wait for our death, but You, our Lord and Commander, will laugh at them. If we are in Your holy hands, we will never be found by this band of evil-doers. Glory be to You!
