01/06/2011 - Don’t let envy dominate you

“For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding”. (Colossians 1:9)
The success of the Colossians was notorious, and it couldn’t have been any different because those who pay heed to the Word of God and put IT into practice, with undoubtedly operate the same divine power experienced by Jesus and by His apostles. That’s also true for anyone, anywhere in the world, who gets in touch with the Eternal Seed. If the power of God isn’t at work in any field of your life in spite of your prayers, then open your eyes and check what’s hampering God’s operation or what is it that you have to do so that His Word may be really effective.
The positive results of those brothers’ faith spread out to many places, and so it turned out that more people were willing to hear the sweet message of the cross. The same must happen today otherwise we’ll lose billions of lives. The crowds followed the Lord Jesus because they saw and heard what He did. People from our generation, regardless of their nationality, need to have the same privilege the Colossians did. The church of Jesus must be awakened to that fact.
Envy has become common in many religious circles, especially when the Lord begins using His people with signs, miracles and wonders. Nonetheless, that shouldn’t happen because what really matters is not who is doing the work but rather the fact that God is healing, delivering and saving sinners. Those who belong to God must rejoice to see what He does in any ministry. It’s sad to hear of those weird cases that emerge among our Christian brethren which go against holiness.
Paul gathered his group of workers and pastors to pray for God to use the Colossian brethren even more, and we must do the same thing. Our Father knows why He’s pouring His Grace out on some faith movements. Yet, if someone – driven by envy or by any other flaw of character – persecutes or speaks evil of the brethren involved in those movements, such person must know that he or she’s sinning against the Most High Himself.
That apostle prayed for them to be filled with the knowledge of the Father’s will. That’s what must happen among the people of God. The work of the Lord is jeopardized if those who are being used by Him have no knowledge of the divine will at all because, as a result, the enemy might cause them to have the weirdest attitudes. The unwary will end up bragging about themselves and thinking they are the cream of the crop. Everybody needs to have wisdom and spiritual intelligence.
