Jeremiah 20:9

Run from God? How? How could anybody possibly run from the Lord? If the devil is tempting you to do something crazy, stop, think, and decide to obey our heavenly father. The enemy wants to destroy you, and to do it, he will show you all the glory of this world, offering you whatever you want. However, he is a liar, and never does what he promises. Therefore, be wise, and stand firm with your Creator, who is always faithful.

Those who tried to disobey God were always in a bad shape. Many people in the Bible were blown away by what they saw, like Lot, Abraham’s nephew, for example, who lost everything when Sodom was destroyed (Genesis 14:11,12). Jonah, for example, walked in a completely opposite direction than the one the Lord ordained him, and ended up inside the belly of a big fish (Jonah 1:1-17). Don’t be like them, for whoever does the will of our Lord will receive permission to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Great men of God many times thought of giving up, but later found out that it was better to obey. Actually the challenges they faced made them want to quit, but it was all part of a great training. Later, they stood firm in the Lord, and finished the work. When that day comes, they will be rewarded. Just like they did, don’t trade what’s already been prepared for you for anything in this world.

Jeremiah concluded that it was best not to remember God anymore, and decided he wouldn’t speak of His name anymore. What a disastrous decision! What would the people do without the ministry of this illuminated prophet? He should be accused of the loss of many, who would never again listen to the voice of the Lord through him. Now, if you have been called by the Lord, why not go ahead and fulfill His calling for your life?

Is the Holy Spirit talking to you? Thank God for this voice that speaks inside our conscience! One time this young boy told me that whenever he decided to do something wrong, he’d listen the songs he sang at church inside his head. The interesting thing, he said, is that it wasn’t always the same song. This way, temptation fled from his thoughts.

In Jeremiah’s case, the Lord lit a fire inside his heart, and this fire made him suffer a lot; that’s why he thought of not remembering the Lord anymore. Well, who would Jeremiah be if the Lord hadn’t blessed him? Who would you be, today, if the Lord hadn’t protected you so many times? Wake up! It’s better to obey the one who has all the power and who loves you than to bring upon you the wrath of the Lord. (Ephesians 5:6)

If you are also running from the Lord, it is never too late to come back and repent; after all, it’s never worth to be involved with the world. One day your life here on earth will be over, and what will happen to you in eternity? God proposes eternal life to you. What will you decide?
