They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us. 1 John 2.19

It’s difficult to see someone go to the lost world after he has been born again, started to walk with the Lord and give a good testimony. This can happen for several reasons that do not justify leaving the ministry. You see, we will never curse this person, but there is a bad feeling and the question: what did we do wrong? Today, God comforts us, so that the sadness is not increased. Let’s study the reasons that also refer to other unions.

Several marriages have ended because one party felt that the other had grown old too quickly. So, when someone with more money or beauty came along, the breakup happened. John, who was banished to the island of Patmos, said: They went out from us. He was referring to the people who broke away from our group. Now, when the mission comes from the Lord, the solution is beautiful, honorable and blessing, like the marriage of children.

It’s sad to see that many beneficiaries despised God’s plan, declaring themselves free. Did the purposes come from the Most High or from a lustful heart of torpid greed? It is written: A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment. (Proverbs 18.1). Such a person makes two mistakes: he seeks his own interests, and not those of the Kingdom, and he turns against true wisdom. There will be trouble at the Judgment!

John said that they did not belong among us, because they had already separated themselves a long time before making the bad decision. They were under the protection that guards us since the beginning, but when they leave for any reason other than the call from God, who will protect them? Now, defeat is certain when deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; all Your waves and billows have gone over me (Psalm 42.7).

From the moment we accept Jesus as Savior, the devil surrounds us, offering his “help”, but in fact, he wants to take us away from the Lord’s original design. Those who wish to fulfill Heaven’s design must be smart, because the evil one will tempt them in every way. Some had fallen into sin; others only nurtured errors in their hearts and later, discovered how much they had been deceived. Without the anointing from on high, we can do nothing (John 15.5). Mercy!

If these people had made the effort to resist the devil, they would have stayed with us. From the moment of temptation, God knows the future of the converted. If he doesn’t give the lordship of his life to the Most High, parts of his soul will gradually be dominated by the enemy, as in a war. If the person doesn’t repent, one day he will cause greater evil, because he is already in the devil’s hands. Whoever accepts oppression is overcome by the evil one!

God allows these separations to show that strange children do more harm than good; after all, they are not part of the Body constituted by the Lord. The message from Heaven contained in Psalm 144:10-14 says at the end: Happy are the people who are in such a state; Happy are the people whose God is the Lord! (verse 15)
