Then the people of the land tried to discourage the people of Judah. They troubled them in building.

Ezra 4:4

When the Jews returned from the exile and began to build Jerusalem, the people who had been living there before was used by the devil to discourage their initiative to rebuild the Holy City. This serves as a reminder to us that the enemy does not change his plans concerning us; he invests all his might against our lives, knowing that some will get carried away by his lies and deceit.

In the case of the people of Judah, the strategy was working and their enemies managed to weaken the hands of the builders. You have to observe whether it is happening to you.  Is your love for the Lord today the same as when you converted? Do you keep praying with the same intensity and determination? Or have you forgotten that Satan always wants to take you out of the divine plan? Hold fast to the will of God for your life!

It is important to point out that the Hebrews became restless. But Jesus said that He gave us His peace (John 14:27) and no one can take it away from us, so do not even pay attention to the those who say otherwise because the enemy is behind them and he insists on attacking us. He who does not give up the hope that is in the Gospel will not be disturbed by any spirit because those who trust in the Lord will always be successful (Psalm 125:1, Jeremiah 17:7).

The Word declares that the adversaries of the Jews hired counselors against them because they wanted to thwart their attempts in no time at all. The same happens with all who serve the heavenly Father today. Unfortunately, however, hell has been successful; after all, many dreams are over and works were stopped, becoming stagnated with time. None of this happened by chance, but according to the strategies of Satan.

The provokers were firm in their purpose and for years they were unyielding. As a matter of fact, the cunning of the evil one was behind them all the time so that the Lord’s promise could not be fulfilled. Therefore, the saved ones should be watchful regarding the wiles of the devil, for he who will do everything to get people to stray and fall into the trap of retaliating the assaults they suffered.

Hell has “hired” the best masters in discouraging those who have a good purpose in life. So do not be swayed by some talk, but stay firm in the voice of the Lord who has called you to be a great blessing. We have a divine order: to endure to the end and those who do so will receive the crown of life (Revelation 2:10).
