Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. Exodus 3:9

War was being declared. The adversary, the devil, will never be a match for the Almighty. He didn’t free them as soon as the oppression in Egypt began, because the Hebrews were committed to the sin of the deceitfulness of riches, one of the most treacherous blows of the enemy. Next came the cares of life and the greed for other things (Matthew 13:22). With this, they were in the hands of those whom they began to serve, the demons.

Today, we see similar things happening. It has never been so easy to be deceived by the tempter, because each one thinks he is wiser than the others. Now, wise is the person who fears the Lord and keeps His commandments, for he will be kept by divine power. And when he determines something, it will be done for him without the delay there is for those who are not steadfast in the Lord. Abiding in Jesus, victory is easy!

Before they realized, the Israelites were already imprisoned by hell. Captive to Pharaoh, they could only regret their servitude, which lasted 430 years. When they began to pray and remember God, He set out on His way. Satan saw that among the Hebrews there was not one who could be used to free them, but he observed Amram, a man of prayer who was raising a family. So, the devil made Pharaoh decree that every Hebrew boy was to be killed at birth.

The excuses that rulers give to justify their evil actions are convincing. However, behind each one is the king of wickedness. We have the Word that does not let us err; outside of it, there is only deception. Whoever follows the Lord´s guidance will never be entangled in the affairs of this life (2 Timothy 2:4). The day came when God said, “Enough!”, declaring war on the kingdom of evil, and Moses was born. It would be another 80 years to end the captivity of Egypt. Pray!

Never get involved with sin. Even the appearance of evil should be repelled; after all, many people will come disguised as sheep. But what operates in them is the devil’s wit to bring you down (1 Thessalonians 5:21,22). We have to be careful every minute not to fall into the accuser’s traps. Only by divine mercy will we be allowed not to fall into a snare of iniquity (Psalm 91:3). Rejoice, for the Creator sees our hearts and helps us!

The people cried out for help to the God of their fathers. Soon, the awareness that divine favor would reach them began to emerge. It didn’t matter what Pharaoh said; in the plans of the Most High it was already decided that redemption would come. Today, anyone who is oppressed by the evil kingdom and hears the Gospel will be set free (John 8:36). The Almighty does not fail.

Egyptian oppression had reached its peak. With this, the Israelites could not see how they would be delivered, but believing in the Lord’s promises to Abraham, they would be visited by someone who would lead them to freedom. Behind Mount Horeb, the dry mountain, God was talking to Moses, the son of Amram and Jochebed, about His plan to rescue the Hebrews.

In Christ, with love,

God of true deliverance! We don't know why it took so long for Israel to come out of slavery. It was evident that it would happen in the twinkling of an eye. When the people were ready to seek You, You would rescue them. Prepare us, Lord!

You heard their cry. They needed to turn back to You. Then, they were able to speak in the right way. It is the same with the Church and Your people, for many still do not know what to do to come before You!

When You heard the voice of the Hebrews, You saw the oppression with which the Egyptians shamed them, and You began to prepare their deliverance. We also need to seek You in faith, so that You will execute Your purpose on our behalf. Help us, beloved God!
