And he did the same for all of his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods.  1 Kings 11:8

Once in the devil’s hands, a person does not stop falling into new transgressions. After all, one abyss calls another abyss (Psalm 42:7). As Solomon had foreign women, who were accustomed to seeking help from strange “gods” in their various and sundry crises, they wanted his company in their offerings to the spirits of darkness. And the Lord’s anointed was there to answer their requests. Watching and praying is good!

When a man is driven by the flesh, he soon concludes that his wife is not enough to satisfy him. As if sin were something normal, Solomon did not see the show of irresponsibility to which he submitted himself. The lover is dedicated to act on his desire, disregarding the biblical warnings given to preserve him from death. Faith in the Word ceases to be important, for what matters to him is to “live life”!

Before long, the wise king was bowing to the call of his beloved wives, and since there were so many of them, he practically did nothing but pay attention to them. His bad choice made him a prisoner of lust. Now, he knew the advice David had given him about how he should serve the Lord (1 Kings 2:1-4), but he did the opposite, serving the idols of his “goddesses. How can we help those who are in this situation?

We have a challenge ahead of us, because with the invasion of pornography in the media and social media, there will be an increase in people falling into temptation. It is the devil, in his desperation, acting quickly: Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time (Revelation 12:12).

Instead of being encouraged by the fact that the end of all things on Earth is coming, many rejoice at the onslaught of the devil. Now, those who pay attention to the accuser and his temptations will go desperate on the Great Day, when they will be commanded to march toward the lake of fire and brimstone (Revelation 21:8). Why leave the divine promises to enjoy sin, if the fate reserved for the wicked will be sad? Ponder and turn back to God!

David said: As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever. (1 Chronicles 28:9). It is necessary to wake up, meditate, and repent, because for those who continue in error, their destiny will be eternal suffering.

Stand beside your better half, see how your children are, and ask God to show you what would happen to you now if you were to die. If what He shows you is doom, your only way out is to start following Jesus again. If you are told that you are doing well, ask Him to help you improve. There is no time to waste, the Lord’s clock is already striking midnight!
