Then the LORD said to me, “Do not pray for this people, for their good. Jeremiah 14:11

Jeremiah was a true prophet, but was unsuccessful in making his people turn to God. By obeying the order of the Lord, he suffered a lot, especially by Judah’s disdain for the Word. Although he was used by the Most High to tell the Israelites that they would be taken captive, he tried to persuade the Lord not to make such decision and thus, he was forbidden to pray for this cause. It is very sad for those whose sentence has already been given. 

Intercession is acceptable to the Most High, and, because of it, many are saved. However, when someone deliberately turns his back to the Almighty, after all divine attempts, nothing else can be done. Many people have toyed with the truth and, at the time God gets tired of acting in that life, the prayers will end and no one else will want to cry out for this person. Then, this life will be lost

The responsibility is individual, and when someone or a nation shuts themselves to the voice of the Lord, they are invalidating the operation of Heaven. For this reason, it is unwise to delay in making the decision to serve Him. If you are completely tied to the works of the flesh, be sure to say yes to the Almighty’s offers. Talk to Him about your weaknesses and ask Him to deliver you from your mistakes.

The prophet was eloquent and wise to intercede for the people of Judah; however, those people did not want to submit themselves to the Most High. Unfortunately, we will also meet people who act that way. Those who resist the divine call prove that they love darkness rather than light, and therefore, will spend eternity in darkness. Why would anyone despise a gift of God, which can free you from eternal suffering and make you be fulfilled in the Lord?

Some people become so alienated that they don’t care about doing what is good and with eternity. They don’t know that they will never come out of the lake of eternal fire and brimstone. Is it worth to have a mistress that will care for you for 50 years, if you are going to spend 50 thousand, plus 50 million, multiplied by 50 billion and trillions or years in Hell? 

God not only rejected the prophet’s prayer, but also ordered him not to waste anymore time. Be careful! If you have despised the voice of the Lord, the day will come that He will no longer talk to you and then, what will become of your life? The purpose of the prophet’s exhortation was so that bondage could be avoided. However, they did not want not hear him, and the sentence was given. What have you done when the Father speaks to your heart?

Judah went into captivity and remained there for 70 years, fulfilling what was prophesied by Jeremiah. From the lips of Christ came the prophecy that the punishment in Hell will never end and there won’t be another opportunity for salvation for those who are released in that place. Why not accept Jesus as Savior at this very moment? Do you want eternal suffering?
