For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps. (I Peter 2:21)

We have been called to follow the Lord Jesus’ steps. The least we can expect from the Christians is that they act as Jesus did while He was here on earth. The example set by the Master should be emulated in all situations. Both in His suffering and when He was doing the divine service, Jesus showed that He loved the Lord above all else. There is no alternative for any child of God but to do what Jesus did.

He represented the Father at all times. For Jesus, what really mattered was to do the Lord\’s work. In John 14:12b, He said: “Whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do and will do greater things than these, because I go to my Father”. So, we’d better meditate on it and not let the enemy lure us and take away our privilege of being used by God. He who does not follow His path shall give account for his rebellion. So do not abide by any other procedure, but accomplish the task which has been assigned to you.

All Christians should understand that doing the work of God is the most pleasant thing in this world. A person can be a great entrepreneur who deals with millions of dollars and provides employment for hundreds or thousands of people, but if he wants to be fully accomplished, he must devote part of his time to do what the Lord did. Now, this is something very personal – it is up to each individual to do it. Giving tithes and offerings to church is very good, but it is not enough. He who honors the ministry given to him by the Lord should rejoice in being used by Him.

Jesus never cursed; He knew how to be superior to the stupidity that dwelt in the hearts of many individuals. Wherever He was He blessed everyone. This should be the procedure of those who are members of His Body. Because He is the Head, Christ knows how to touch men’s hearts so that they do His will. Always say yes to the Lord’s calling.

He spared no efforts to preach to the important as well as to the plain people of His day. He received the theologian who came to Him in the night and also the Samaritan woman who asked for His help (John 3 and 4). The Lord was always ready, and those who belong to Him should also be diligent to present themselves approved to God a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (II Timothy 2:15). Happy are those who do not exchange for anything what they received from God.

Following the examples given by the Master is the most correct attitude that his children can take in life. Nothing is more rewarding than investing in the work of God.

In Christ with love,
